Google doesn't count them as a back link for a website but a no follow link can drive traffic on your website.

Nofollow backlinks are great for traffic if they're coming from high traffic websites. Nearly every blog you comment on will be a nofollow blog. And we're all here to make money, and traffic is what we all need; dofollow or not.

Google also likes to see a good mixture or dofollow and nofollow backlinks. Only dofollow links looks extremely unnatural and spammy.

No follow can drive traffic to your website as well as i have heard that it passes the link authority to your website.

As well as to make your link profile natural you shall have both dofollow and nofollow type of backlinks highly recommended by SEO specialists.

It helps to get traffic if you post in high PR nofollow sites. And combination of dofollow and nofollow links look natural in google view.

    Hi,
Nofollow is use for spam protection and trading or reciprocal links to no relevant sites.

Link diversity. Having nothing but DoFollow links can look a little odd since there are so few DoFollow link sources.

Exactly. Does it seem natural to have a website that only gets one type of links? No, not really. And Google doesn't think so either.

The above is right. Link diversity - google thinks that you aren't spamming.

Also, forgot to mention potential traffic. If the NoFollow links are on niche-related sites you can drive some pretty targeted traffic to your site.

You get good traffic from No follow links if the site you place them is of top level. And another benefit would be that you will have mixed links i.e both do follow and no follow links which would not give google a tip off.

Google indexes nofollow links but they do not count towards your link juice or backlinking total for SEO purposes. Still good to have so your linking strategy looks natural.

Instant traffic if the site receives lots of traffic, try to be the first to comment as much as possible . It's important that you make your comments stand out! Also use your real name (it looks Spamming if you use keywords) and have a commentluv plug in so that you can attach your latest articles they can read.

From what I see and understand you should do both. My web guy has a site ranked all on no follow back links for a pretty competitive keyword in his industry just to prove people wrong!

Just to throw a little chaos into the mix...

I remember a case study or two on the old backlinksforum.com where someone was ranking sites using only no-follow links.

    1. They pass authority to your website if are placed on niche market good authority blogs.
    2. They provide you few visitors
    3. They provide you few link diversity as having all links as do follow only donot seems to be natural link building practice.
