Hello warriors,

my name is Jean-Francois and this will be my 1st official project for IM.

Lately, I did lot of reading on this forum to learn as much as I could. I am very far from being an expert, but during all this reading (by the way, thanks to Lucas Devlin for his adsense easy profit guide that was also a very good read) a project was born and I want your opinions - thought - experiences.

I found a niche that monthly searches goes up to 100,000 according to market samurai with low to medium competition. It also have AWCPC of 1$ to 1.50$. According to Lucas adsense guide, I think it would be a perfect opportunity for me as I know good content about this niche too.

My project is to monetize this niche using 2 approaches, adsense and affiliate product.
1- make an adsense website following the adsense easy profit guide
2- build a squeeze page to make a list
3- promoting a free product (ebook) with good, but minimal content about the niche.
4- using affiliate method, promote a good / popular product through clickbank.

I still need to do lot of research on building a squeeze page and affiliate marketing, but this is the general idea of my campaign. My goals are to build a good online income (good is relative, but for me I would start around 100$/day) within 6-12 months. This will be the 1st project, but as soon as I will see the benefits, I will for sure put more projects online to, maybe one day, have a full online income.

My questions:
1- Do the project make sense to you ?
2- What is the conversion rate of a good squeeze page so I can calculate how much visitors would be needed to reach my online income goals ?
3- According to your experiences, do you have any IM aspects that you neglected when you first started but was very important ? Tips for a newbie to not make these mistakes?

I thank you for the time to read this and if you have good info/tips to share, I would be happy to hear from you.

I wish you all good success with your campaigns!
J-F

I don't really consider myself an affiliate marketer, more of a webmaster, I'm pretty usless at building lists (I never do it), but there are other ways to do this other than squeeze pages.

You can use viral facebook apps and plugins on your site to improve sign ups. For example you can have a comment luv plugin on your site and make them sign up to your facebook page, app or list for backlinks.

Giving away free stuff is also a good way to improve sign ups..

Other good plugins include the Mow Pop plugin which is just a pop up for your site, you can also lock the content so they need to sign up or like your facebook app. Other content lockers are look quite good for building lists, including video lockers.

There is a good facebook app here for collecting a list; PHP Scripts - Facebook Viral and Marketing Social App | CodeCanyon

If you have a good enough idea to create an app then you can send this viral very quickly and use the weight of your website traffic or paid advertising to push it further.

In terms of products it's probably a good idea to develop your own products or design software that's different and of course write content that's viral and will attract alot of social traffic.

I would make your website as far away as possible from an affiliate money making blog, these sites aren't doing to well ATM especially small sites with sqeeze pages and focus more instead on blogging with social traffic.

For affiliate type of sites I would probably go with creating my own product and then adding it to clickbank and let others do all the hard work rather than blogging for years only for Google to frown on your activities.

    Hi J-F,

I can give you some general advice regarding IM when you are just starting out.

First of all, be patient. Give yourself time to learn. IM is very complicated and you can't expect to be a master right away. Also, don't be too disappointed if you don't make any money during your first months.

Secondly, be determined. I mean REALLY determined. This has been the most important factor for me that I am now able to work full time with my internet business.

I have experienced literally hundreds, if not thousands, of disappointments during my journey. You try something with high hopes and it turns out to be a total disaster. Then you try something else, and the same is happening.

The point is that you should learn from every failure, and I'm sure you will experience them. Learn from them and move on. Don't give up too easy. The reason why most people fail when trying to make money online is simple, THEY GIVE UP. Don't let that happen to you.

Finally, set yourself realistic goals. I know you do not want to hear this, but your goal to earn $100/day within 6-12 months is quite tough.

I'm not saying that it is impossible to do but it is very challenging. Of course, if you are able to do IM full time this is more realistic to achieve. However, if you are currently working full time with your day job, I'd change that goal to be a little bit more achievable.

      Thank you for your answers.

I will go ahead and try my 1st project and see how it goes, adjusting on the way and making changes to others projects. I think my vision of having a website of 100,000 searches, let's say that 5% visit my webpage and I have a CTR of 2% which is not that good, at 1$ CPC it comes up to 100$/day. I may have a too simplified view of internet marketing yet.

I think we are all looking at the easiest way to make online money, but in anyway you choose, you will always end up falling down, learn and stand up.

This forum is a great place for IM infos and I will keep lurking and learn.

      Thank you

I agree, you will probably fail dismally before you succeed.

I built my first website when I was 14 years old. (16 years ago) One of the first websites I made was something that I was passionate about, I blogged for 6 months and didn't see any return... When I look back I could cry!

but I took a step back and learned from my mistakes. It's not that you can't earn $100 a day within 6 months but having experience will make it easier.

I built a website 5 months ago, within 6 weeks it was earning $100 a day and getting over 8000 UV's per day.

Just make sure you get your research right, I have since learned following what you want is not always the best way, the best desicions are the hardest to make and you can become blinded by your own vision and false beliefs of what something is and not the reality - you need to follow the traffic and money and get your facts right.

      Hey you stole my mantra!

Also I would say get in a good routine, don't sit in front of the comptuter all day, get up with an alarm, get some exercise and eat healthy. Give yourself plenty of breaks and time to relax, then you will be more productive.

You need to deal with the psychology too, self doubt, motivation, procrastination and others.

Biggest thing when your just starting out is not to get over whelmed and above all else just get started. You need to come to the realization that even if it's not your first project, eventually your going to fail. Learn from it, and move on.

If you build it, they will come. If you write it, they will read it. If it's good, well, they will tweet it, like it, share it, stumble it, pin it, post it, copy it, click it, buy it, question it, digg it and comment on it. Let's write useful, meaningful content on our sites and clean the internet up :)
