    good post.

    personally, i would just add one thing:

    read the webmaster guidelines, and see if there is not perhaps any possibility that something on your site could be interpreted as a violation - and fix it if there is.

    If your site gets "banned" (what does that mean, deindexed? Penalized?) for black/gray hat techniques, submitting a reconsideration request as the article states won't help. You are better off counting your losses and moving to the next project. Once you are in a whole, the best thing to do is stop digging.

    Move on, start over, and actually read and follow
    what google publishes.

    Ofcourse it is possible. Go to webmasters tool and check all the backlinks. If you see any website suspicious or with poor content, get your backlink removed from that website. Your ban will be lifted soon times.
