I found this tool here Mark Thompson - Ramblings of an Internet Marketer

Here the tool itself Tynt Publisher Tools - Improve your seo, keep users longer and measure your user engagement by leveraging the power of copy and paste

The software is just like google analytic with a few exceptions:

1. This software tells you what people are copying from your site.

2. When visitors copy your content and paste somewhere else tynt automatically place a backlink to your site.

3.Just like analytic it also tells you what keywords were used to get to your site.

This will help your site get natural backlinks.

I see this all the time in news sites. I've checked the source code but could never figure out how it was done. Thanks.

Is this just a gimmick though?

I mean, I have to admit, I almost NEVER copy content from pages and send it via email. I usually always just copy the URL and send that, OR of course, just share it via FB.

First off Why would it be a gimmick? It's a free tool.

Second it acts as a second analytic for me, when checking Google analytic I may see "not provided" so that's when I check this software to see how a visitor got to my site.

Third I copy n paste certain words all the time when visiting a site. Say I was on a site talking about mission impossible 4, and the article mentions "Tom Cruise" and I didn't know who that was. I would double click, highlighting the name and search google, this tool tells you what people highlighted and searched while leaving your site.

This could be valuable, because than you could make content based on this info.
