Should I be selling by Now?!?!?!

I just posted my last post on my first sniper type site (It took me a month to finish). It's been a couple days and the product I'm selling (free 30-day trail offer) claims a 1.2% CR and somehow I get about 30-40 unique daily hits on my website (not sure how, the quality of them, or how many of those are on the home page) altough I'm not ranking at all on google and I get spam comments all the time.

I've only built a couple dozen backlinks on yahoo answers, and I'm not sure what people mean with social bookmarking, high pr comments, profiles, etc????

I just need to know if I should be selling by now and I should focus on improving my preselling or if I should instead focus on increasing my traffic or the quality of it, thanks!

No you should not be selling by now, if it's only been a couple of days. You won't really start to sell any significant amount until you get ranked in the top 5 of google.

The hits you are seeing now are likely just bots, not real human visitors. So I wouldn't be discouraged that no one is buying because likely no one has seen the site yet.

Depending on the competition of your keyword, it could take 1 month to 6 months or more to rank in the top of google.

Yeah, you need to get a better handle on where your traffic is coming from. Google Analytics should give you a good idea - bots don't tend to trigger Javascript, so you get a real count of your visitors for the most part. Don't rely on your Control Panel AWstats or whatever, it's pretty pointless.

But you can't properly ramp up your efforts unless you know where your traffic is coming from and how it is behaving.

Hey, I finally got google analytics installed, how do I tell the human visitors from the bots? The location of the visits is in accordance with the results I got with the google keyword tool... most came from my backlinks 3 visits came from "google organic" what does that mean?

This is just my opinion, but Statcounter is much more intuitive and easy to use than Google Analytics. It is very easy to tell exactly where your visitors are coming from, what search terms they use to find your site etc. Not to say GA doesn't have this info, but Statcounter is much easier to use.

I don't use Statcounter, but as I understand, like Google Analytics, it is Javascript-based. What that means in practice is that bot visits will mostly not even be registered, since bots do not tend to trigger Javascript. So whatever visitors you see are probably human in some form . What they are actually doing there, what they are looking for, how long they will spend on your site and whether they will take any sort of buying action is another matter.

Google organic is a term used in Analytics to differentiate from Google Paid search. Basically it refers to normal search engine visits from people searching for something and coming to your site by clicking on your SERPS entry. Whereas PAID means they clicked on a PPC ad that you paid for - I doubt you are running PPC campaigns through Google Adwords, so basically all your Google visits ought to be organic.

        Hope that helps.
