How long do backlinks take to be checkable?

I have made about 10 backlinks over that last 2-3 weeks but none of them have been picked up. How long could this take? Each one is from a different website and a different setting (comment, web 2.0 page, article, profile)

I do not want to carry on and find out that I am doing something wrong and waste my time.
I have been told not to submit the pages to seach engines. Is there anything I could be doing to help them along or is this just a waiting game?

thanks

I recommend that you just be patient and keep working at other places. It takes time for them to be indexed and some may never be found. Just check your links on occasion and take note of the ones that do get indexed.

  • Its depending on the sites you are posted links. Be patient.

Ah, okay. I just wasn't too sure if the time that had passed was enough or not.

    Thanks for the info

I still do not appear to have any backlinks. If you create more backlinks, consistently, would that speed things up?

Backlink checkers aren't really the best indicator of whether Google has found your links or not.

I've had a few websites recently that are PR3, with multiple PR3, PR4 and PR5 links pointing to them, both in the top spots on Google for their main keywords... yet when I ran a backlink checker on them it didn't report any links.

I even set up a new site on SEOmoz recently, one of the more advanced SEO reporting tools, and that's not reporting any links yet that I know have been built to the site. And it's doing quite nicely in the SERPs too.

Basically, there's a good chance that Google will find your links within a couple weeks or less, a lot less depending on the authority of the page that your link is on, so there's no need to worry about what a backlink reporter tool says. Monitor your rankings instead.

Check the cached copy of those pages. If you found those cached copies are newer than your post then try to find your post. If you can't find your post with links then there is no need to worry about. May be your posts deleted by the website owners. And you can look forward to post in other sites.

It will take a long time to show them in Google index. however hope you'll see them soon on webmaster tools.

Until they are indexed by google. You can surely decrease this time by pinging a backlink or at least try to build one or two backlinks to your "backlink"

True worth of link is visible only after full 1 year. Most of spammy links die by then. Just create useful non-spammy backlinks and forget it.

Over a month later and not one of the 100+ backlinks have shown themselves.. Grr. They were good links that will stand the test of time so I guess I will see what happens in a year..

I take it that the backlinks are doing there job? even if they are not showing. I haven't made it into the top ten of google, you see.

I guess backlinks not showing does stop people being able to copy where other people have put backlinks by just searching a competitive site and then commenting to infinity.
