Yes, they do happen - I do get $6-$7 clicks, but never had one worth $12 (nearly 10 EUR) before, like today!

No, I won't discuss my niches, but it IS one of those that show, like $30-$50 CPC in the Adwiords KWT. They don't usually work out quite the way people hope, but you can still get pretty big clicks from them sometimes. I just can't understand who is PAYING for $12 clicks on the content network! It CAN'T be worth it, surely..!

Anyway, keyword research is everything, it goes without saying, but sometimes you've just got to get lucky too...

maybe some advertiser targeted both the search and display network in the same campaign or copied the search campaign to target the display network and forgot to lower the max cpc bids.

COULD be a mistake, but I guess there are businesses out there where it's worth paying $12 for a "lead" (even a random, low-converting lead like you get via the Content network?!).

Think products or services worth tens of thousands - I guess maybe the maths adds up. I will certainly be looking at trying to identify the specific ad, or at least have an educated guess.

$15, woah, yeah, so it does happen!

Sure, keyword research is important, but of course it's also about getting a good volume of traffic. I mean, not much point getting ONE $15 click in a MONTH, or whatever. Thing is, some of those niches just don't immediately seem to have that kind of potential, because the "main" keyword is usually quite low-volume. Unless you start really bringing in those long-tails. Lot of talk about long-tails again lately...

It's no.2 for a couple of main keywords, and gets some long-tails, related words etc. But all that only really amounts to max 1000 visitors per month, without a lot of potential for expansion. Low volume, high cpc, reasonable ctr - just one of those niches...

Still, it gives me an insight into what sorts of niche have potential. I already have a site on the go in a "parallel" niche with much more potential and similarly high Cpc (though not quite THAT high!). Weird though, ctr is considerably poorer, despite the similarity of the niche and very similar site template etc. Just shows, nothing is guaranteed in this business...

Even if he was, if it was a $12 click that means there was someone right below with a $11 bid but was outbid by the amateur. So the fact is, great quality traffic and keyword. Very Cool!

Oh sure, that's a perfectly good model. I guess there is just something satisfying about getting big juicy clicks like that I must admit, I took Adsense off any sites that were giving me less than about $1 on average. Problem was the CTR was incredibly low too - I know it's not a rule, but low CTR can follow low CPC since the competition is lower, i.e. less people are buying whatever it is you are promoting. So you still have to choose keywords wisely of course...

  • It's great! The maximum I've got is $8.50 for a click, but getting $12 today for a single click is really awesome!

Continue doing an optimal keyword research, and your clicks will increase!
