      Yeah, this is the long process of link building, adding GREAT content to your site and doing on-page SEO. Takes a while to learn how to do this to a decent level so you're best off getting a professional if you don't want to risk being penalised by Google for "blackhat" tactics.

      If you have time to learn though, check out resources like SEOMoz and similar sites. They are fantastic for newbies and "experts" alike.

    As far as the penguin update is concerned, unique and value-adding articles are a great way to rank your sites in the first page. You have to build links of course, but make sure you don't spam your sites with 1000s of links; it doesn't work anymore. Build a handful of links to each page, and if you've done your keyword research properly, your sites will rank high.

    Add original and quality content to your site. Optimize the contentet well. Then start building backlinks. The number of backlinks should be proportionate to yours sites rank, but build your link slowly and increase the number as you add more content.
