What would you do to improve the seo on my site?

Hi guys,

I work for a very new, free offline magazine that deals with making the best of your money as the focus of its editorial.It's distributed via 4 of the UK's largest supermarkets and has 30,000 offline readers for it's first issue. We're now gearing up for our second issue.

Now, my expertise is sales and social media which is going strong as we've had 300 new twitter followers in 48hrs. However, I recognise that SEO is what's going to get us up in the google rankings and get us more readers and therefore more advertisers. I'm also aware of video marketing and content marketing, which I plan to start implementing when we get more articles.

My plan is to start a daily deals section which I know will help due to the fresh content. However, there must be something else that I'm missing.

I didn't design the website myself so I'm not sure what onpage SEO has been done, if any?

Any advice or pointers would be greatly appreciated!

    I'd start by solving the couple of validation errors you have left: [Invalid] Markup Validation of http://moneymattersmagazineltd.com/ - W3C Markup Validator

    Then create a dynamic site map and add it to your robots.txt file so it can be found by every bot. Right now your robots.txt file is nearly empty.

    After that... Fill your meta descriptions!!! I've just seen one empty. This is the description used by the search engines to show in their results... You can't afford not to have them (note the plural, it's one for each page, actually you need unique title + meta description, one per page).

    This is just for starters, there could be a lot more to see but I don't have the time right now.

      Thanks for that advice Seb, I'll get those points sorted out ASAP. The website belongs to a new magazine that I'm selling advertising for. It wasn't built by me, but now that I'm responsible for selling advertising for them I want to make sure that the website brings in as many visitors as possible, so that our advertisers get a good return on their advertising investment. Any other tips would be gratefully received!
