SEO Tips Needed

I launched a site about 2 months ago, there is a lot of original good content on there but it is having difficulty getting any organic traffic.It is not ranking for any keywords and I suspect that the site is getting sandboxed. I am competing in a competitive market, men's lifestyle, but I would assume with over 100 posts that some tail end keywords would hit.

    You can start by putting a link to your site in your forum signature so as you ask for help you are building links. Good luck!

      You have 100 400 word articles with no photos. Your site is only 2 months old with no quality backlinks so Google has no reason to crawl you on a regular basis. What exactly did you expect. You are writing articles that 100 other sites already have with vastly better SEO than you.

      You can learn a lot from Webmaster Tools and Analytics. What do they say?

      You have an uphill battle ahead. There are other sites with better seo and better content so you need to find a way to stand out or you will never make it. Or you can make it but the amount of time it will take is not going to be worth it.

    Can you give me an example of something that you think should be ranking for a specific keyword?

    It looks like many of your posts are very short, and you seem to be targeting keywords that are not particularly easy to rank for.

    My advice:

    1). Find quality keywords. Keywords with high exact-match traffic potential (use AdWords Keyword Tool), low competition (inurl:"keyword" intitle:"keyword"), and weak competition (I use the SEOquake Chrome plugin to check competitive PRs and inbound links).

    2). Take those keywords and write high-quality content about each one. Take the best resources on the topic and blow them away. Overwhelm the reader. They want to know how to dress on a first date? Create the last guide they'll ever need.

    3). Build exposure to your content on relevant social networks, social bookmarking sites, etc. Write guest posts for other blogs in your niche. Put yourself out there, but don't be spammy about it. Build links naturally.

    I have yet to rank a site just purely by onpage seo. However, just by doing offpage seo I manage to get sites with just 400 words of content on it to Page 1.

    My advice is balance your seo: 50% onpage seo & 50% offpage seo.

    you can try seoclerk in searching for quality high PR backlinks - dont go for the large volume of links but the quality, niche content associated with your site backlinks - its cheap and effective

    You need to start promoting this site through social channels and not be reliant on organic traffic. Position this site to build the Men Insider brand and you should start ranking with less resistance moving forward.

    The content is amusing. You should create social accounts (Facebook, Twitter, etc.) to promote content and build an audience. In all seriousness, I'd hit the "like button" or "follow you on Twitter" if you had social account links on your site.

    Building a brand is not easy, keep at it!

      Good point. I didn't explore the site enough to really comprehend what it was about. Probably should have read one of the articles first.

      Entertainment websites have very little SEO potential. But they have great viral potential.

      If it was my site, I'd focus on maximizing social exposure and building a list of email subscribers. Design the website to maximize the likelihood that those two goals are met.

      Make the sharing buttons more visible. Incorporate Facebook comments. Post original YouTube videos. Get the readers to promote my content.

      And add two or three email opt-in callouts to each page, so I can ultimately turn those readers into profits.

      SEO isn't always appropriate.
