Google Places vs. Organic-CTR?!

I have a bit of a dilemma and I wanted to know your thoughts. I am currently on the middle of the 1st page for my keywords but cant seem to move up. I signed up for Google places hoping ill be one of the first few.
As you may or may not know, when a listing is displayed in the SERPS under Google Places, there is no description for the site. I was wondering what the CTR are for Google places compared to organic?
Based on my experience, I usually skip the Google Places but wanted to know if there are more comprehensive stats available apart from my personal anecdotes.
