If you were creating a new technology blog, which domain name would you prefer?

TechUser.com
TechGuruBlog.com
TechGuruTV.com
Gadget-User.com
TechShizzle.net
MobileTechUser.com

If you could give a grade to each domain (A, B, C, D, or F) that would be helpful. I would sell the domains I don't plan to use.

I write technology content for work so it's not a lot of extra work to do blogging on the side.

I will use Google external Keyword tool to determine the keyword to target on Google, then I will consider naming URL. Obviously it plays a small role on getting more traffic from Google.

However, As far as it is blog, I will be including the word "blog" on my URL.

If I remember, the keyword tool "likes" these the most:

      TechGuruBlog.com
      MobileTechUser.com

I just wondered if these names have enough pizzazz.

Another domain I'm considering is TechStorm.com

I like Gadget-User.com but I would much prefer to get GadgetUser.com. I backed order GadgetUser.com but the own eventually renewed it.

TechUser.com is currently on sale- minimum bid is like $2500.

My 2 cents: For a blog I would try to make it brandable. You really want to be building a brand with your blog. TechStorm. com is excellent.

I agree with your point about branding. I think some sites lend them selves to brandable domains (gizmodo.com) while other sites require more keyword optimization (cheapiphonecase.com).

I wouldn't use any domain with a hyphen.

Repeat traffic will most likely go to a competitions domain without the hyphen.

Agreed. I may try to sell gadget-user.com and at least get my $8 back.

Gadget-user.com could be worth a lot more than $8, in these days of increasing scarcity of good domain names.

That said, adding your own branding would work wonders, and although exact match domains do help for the keywords you're trying to rank for, that isn't the only factor these days.

Eg. Looking at EnGadget.com., you could pretty much twist any catchy word before or after Tech and still make a killer blog

You should choose the one that mostly matches the keyword you choosed to rank in google. Something like techblog won't help you if your keyword is "technology innovation" for example

    I would prefer TechUser.com
Because it’s simple and easy to remember and has "tech" in it so everybody knows its about technology. Don’t mind too much about stuffing your domain name with keywords for google. You should choose the one that is best for your visitors.

        Rajivwebads, TechGuru.com is already taken.

Thanks for the feedback! I'm down to these choices:
        • TechStorm.com (My first choice. Like the brand. I put in an auction bid for it).
        • TechGuruBlog.com (What I currently use. I didn't love the name but i guess it's ok)
        • MobileTechUser.com (Good low competition monthly searches (mobile tech) but not much pizzazz imo)
TechUser.com is a premium domain and the price just went up. A little too rich for my blood.

        One final question.
Which is better between TechGuruBlog.com and MobileTechUser.com? I plan to mostly write about smartphones and tablets. I already have about 30 articles ready to go. I just need to pick a domain name.

Since you are going to start blogging, go with TechGuruBlog.com Is a good domain name, has tech and blog inside.
On the other hand, MobileTechUser.com is more closer to the articles you are going to publish, it would better to use this if in the future you will be writing articles about smartphones and tablets.

Thanks you all for the help. I decided to go with DailyTechHelp.com. It describes the purpose of my site and gives me a lot of flexibility in terms of what I can write about.

I was going to bid on TechUser.com but the price went up. Gadget-User.com was shot down because it contains a dash.
