Recover Partially from Penguin

Background:
2 of sites were hardly hit by series of penguin update. With each update the rankings went down. Each site had only 2 pages.

Things what i did after the penguin
I tried adding lot of content to the site
Build contextual links
Buy Homepage links
PAD Submit

But none of them worked, rankings were down as hell.

So then i read about 301 redirect to new domain in the forum. But from the posts it seemed that penalty was passing down the new domain in 1-2 weeks.

So what i did:
Bought a new domain and setup the content.
Created a web2.0 with 600 words content. And used 1 naked url and long tail keyword as anchor pointing to the new site.
Then redirected my old domain to the web2.0

And then i did few bookmarks to the new site. Its been 3 weeks and both the site are in top 10(9 and 7 precisely). So i had 70% recovery in rankings.

Criteria for selecting web2.0
The page that is created on web2.0 should have low OBL and IBL.You want max juice to pass to your main site.
Go for web builder type of site rather then wordpress/hubpages/squidoo etc
And don't use the direct anchor otherwise the web2.0 would start ranking.

great list of web 2.0 sites

I find tumblr to be pretty effective

"And don't use the direct anchor otherwise the web2.0 would start ranking"

By this do you mean dont link to the web 2.0 as the Keywords you want your site to rank?

    Interesting strategy.

Did you need to make sure the content was no longer indexed on your old domain before adding the content to your new domain?

Did you know what was causing the penguin penalty on your previous domain? Was it lack of backlink anchor text variety?

Bookmarks are good for penguin since a lot of bookmarking sites (as well as directory sites) are just raw URLs.

This is what I was going to say that move on and create a new website because once you are hit by the Penguin there is only 5% chance to recover from it.

It is another proof that Web 2.0 sites with relevant content still rules SEO industry even after Penguin/Panda.

I had read on this forum, few days back, there are guys complaining about Web 2.0 sites and those people take "links from web 2.0" as "spammy" - but Google does not. Google always value contextual links.
