What's Up With Google Search?

I was doing some Google searches today when I noticed something I have not seen before. I clicked on a site and then returned to the search page and looked at the same site I click on and noticed that Google added this statement "Block all (website name) results"

I wonder why they are doing this? Anyone know or have seen this?

Hmm, I tried finding this but I couldn't. I guess it's just a way to customize your results in case you didn't like the site and don't want to get it as a result next time you look for the same/similar keywords. I think it's alright.

Hello! :-) This appears to only really show up if you're doing a search
while logged into a Google Account. One idea as to why this feature
exists. Google has traditionally positioned itself as an algorithm
powered search engine, with no perceived editorial input. No thumbs
on the scales, as it were (which is clearly not entirely true, but that's
beyond the scope of this post). That's not always going to produce the
most relevant results for all users. So by enabling users to personalize
(to some degree) their search experience, it's a way to maintain
algorithm powered search while also introducing an element of
subjective curative-style results based on user inputs.

    Hi

Google is using a greater emphasis of 'time on page' and 'bounce rate' to determine the value of links in the SERPs.

They are doing much more to try and involve human metrics.

When they see you immediately return from a page back to the SERPs, they can tell you didn't find what you are looking for.

If you are logged into your Google account, they give you the option of blocking that site from your future search results (as it appears you didn't like it).

I'm sure these metrics are used in evaluating websites to help find 'human unfreindly' sites that their bots can't detect.

I don't know either, but I have seen it before. It actually happened to one of my wordpress blog posts, back over a year ago. My blog was a health and weight loss blog. It never stopped my posts from hitting the no. one spot in Google thought!

Thanks for the responses - I hate to block any ones site from my searches so I just ignore it now. I am not sure how Google will treat sites that are blocked from my searches.

    Thanks all -
