Backlinking for Beginners
- SEO |
Okay, folks, a couple of newbie questions. Please bear with me!

I've got a travelogue up at KoreaConnection[dot]net. At this point I'm using the site as way to learn/experiment with best practices. I might try to monetize it later.
What I'm interested in doing is driving more free traffic to the site via backlinking. I think I grok the basic details: Post content on web directories, Web 2.0 properties, etc and have those sites link back to my main site.
Two questions:
1) Do I want to have these articles, addition blogs, etc link back to various pages on my site? I don't want them all linking back to my homepage, right?
2) Should I use keywords as links in these articles and blogs? Or should I mix it up?
For example, I've got an article up on the site about Chiaksan (a mountain range in Korea.)
The article is currently 8 or 9 in Google search and I want it in the top 3.
To make this happen should I build backlinks to this page using the keyword "Chiaksan"? If I'm only creating, say, 5 or 6 backlinks to this page do I need to vary the word that links back to the site?
Thanks a bunch!
