I've found for SEO, you have to write a lot, but for traffic, you have to tweet a lot. That's me personally.

Complete nonsense. SEO does not take a lot of writing.

Depending on your niche, Facebook Ads and sponsored stories can work really well.

Man the nonsense is flowing, Mike! I like the word "bogus" myself.

Facebook is a an iffy beast, but not the worst way.

Twitter, with the right hash tags, AND, a big enough following, can
be quite spot on. Squidoo lenses, with squidoo's internal linking,
can be pretty dang good too. Blogger, same thing. Anyone want
to pump up some traffic, use blogspot. Of course I shall not divulge
my best ways. Think outside the box.

Remember, all is fair in love, war, and getting targeted traffic.

        Even email...

        Paul

No, you're wrong, or I've noticed the more I update my site with fresh, long, original blog posts, the higher it ranks. If that's not true, then please explain what you mean, because that's the most important part of SEO these days, as far as I can work out, and getting some social shares to good quality social pages or profiles. Not that I bother that much trying to rank for high competition searches.

There are websites that have not changed their content in years that rank #1 for very competitive terms. Adding content or changing content (unless it sucked to begin with) has nothing to do with rankings, unless you are running something like a news site. Then, you better be posting many times a day.

Posting frequently has never been the most important part of SEO. The most important part of SEO has always been high quality, high authority backlinks.

I'm not going to argue with you about the social junk because you have your own biased view there.

OK, so can you explain an easy way to get high quality back links, without spending much money, and specific sites or methods? I've sort of given up on it for the most part, but I occasionally do a little commenting on Comment Luv blogs, or write an article. My main SEO strategy is just to write a lot on the site, and have good cross linking, and doing the whole social media thing, and it seems to be working a bit. I care about Google rankings, but it's not worth much time or money for me to rank for a low search volume search like buy Facebook likes, even if I managed to get first on the first page, which I'm sure would take a lot of effort.

Why should SEO, or in general building a business, be cheap or easy? That is the problem with so many people that jump online. They get sucked into believing that making money online is easy, takes very little time, and will cost little to no money. The cases where it works that way are very, very few.

To answer your question though, a good way to get high quality backlinks without spending a lot of money is simply to ask for them. Few people do this because it takes time and effort, something few IM'ers are willing to put in. Often times just contacting webmasters with a polite email and asking for an opportunity to earn a link off of their site works. You will get a lot of people that don't answer or refuse, but you might be surprised how many agree.

Comment Luv and Keyword Luv blogs are a waste of time. They are highly targeted by IM'ers and often just end up with hundreds of spammy links.

Well you can always try advertising on Facebook or Google. As long as you have enough budget for the advertisements you will be able to get targeted traffic. Otherwise, you will have to put some time and effort to develop your SEO skills.

Get to know your target audience first. You can do that by finding out where they hangout online. Once you find that place, you can take advantage of that and share your links to them. Remember that you should share something that they would find interesting. What could have been interesting to you may not be interesting in their point of view.
