    Yes and no.

    It depends what directories you submit to. Some can help, while others can eventually come back to drag you down.

    Link Directories are still good to have as one-part of your overall link building strategy.

    Avoid directories that are not human edited or don't have quality controls. Avoid ALL bulk submission "packages". Avoid ANY directory that claims to be "SEO friendly".

      Packages are really bad after Penguin. Any sites which are targeted by internet marketers are marked by Google.

        virtually all of them are junk.

        Why anyone STILL thinks otherwise, is one more reason why
