Hello,

I'm looking at my google places page and really want to focus on increasing its position. Currently it normally sits between 1-4 for most/all of my keywords but his is just by luck. I simply entered the info asked for and that was all.

My question is about increasing the positions within the local listing. Can someone recommend practices for this?

I have also read somewhere that google collates reviews from other review sites and uses these int he local listings. Is this true?

Any info appreciated.

Thanks

Hi, reviews can get your places ranking high both from Google users and other sites. But there is a limit to it, frequency is the key.

Good SEO on site site itself will also help. That's how places without reviews can rank well.

sounds like i just need to keep asking clients for reviews regularly.

On site seo is pretty much there, just some minor tweaking.

    Thanks for your input

You need very specific LOCAL Seo, not just regular good on-site SEO. Most Google local searches these days show the 'blended' algo. There are 2 algos and only the 7 pack is affected by # of reviews.

But the blended aglo shows up about 70% of the time currently and it is primarily based on on-site SEO PLUS you need the right local hooks to help Google tie the site and Place page together so it ranks in blended.

Place names within anchor texts certainly helpful. Use google map with the address of your target place. This would help a lot to too.
