Moving articles to another domain - Is it still unique?

Hi guys,

Just wondering if you could help me. I am looking to delete a domain and move all of its content over to my main website.

How does Google treat these articles?

Does anyone know the Pros and Cons of doing this? and if this is what you have to do, then how would you go about doing it?

Thanks!

    I'll use 301 redirect.

      Thank you for the reply. I've not done one of those before, may I ask how that works exactly and how I can set one up?

        The easiest way is using your domain registrar. Most offer domain forwarding, either temp (302) or perm (301) you want 301.

        Or you can add this to your header:

        Code:
         <?*
        Header( "HTTP/1.1 301 Moved Permanently" );*
        Header( "Location:*http://www.yourdomain.com"
        *);*
        ?>
        and just replace your domain. Then just go ahead and move your content.

        Or you can use you .htaccess file:

        To Redirect Certain Page(s):

        Redirect 301 /oldpage.html http://www.yoursite.com/newpage.html Redirect 301 /oldpage2.html http://www.yoursite.com/folder/

        To Redirect Entire Site:

        Redirect 301 / http://www.new-site.com/

          Thanks guys!

          So will moving the article over be seen as "duplicate" content? ie. will it have any adverse affect? will it be seen and counted as unique content on the new site because it no longer exist on the former site?

    Move the articles over and 301 direct to the appropriate article. That's the best way. To 301 direct, you must make or edit your .htaccess file.

    I don't know exactly what to type in off the top of my head. Look up "301 redirect htaccess" on google and you will find what you need.
