Hi warriors

With Ping FM about to close what are people using to syndicate their content?

Have hootsuite but that doesn't support anywhere near the platforms that Ping FM did and have tried HelloTXT but it won't connect to have the services it is supposed to support.

Grateful for any help.

Thanks

Neil

This is pretty sad to see.. although I never used ping.fm too much it was superior to a lot of other services out there.

I think they referred to seesmic ping as ping.fm's 'successor' .. it's not IMO, it's just a jumped up version of Seesmic which has been slapped with a very limited free option and some monthly paid options... I guess this way they'll be able to develop seesmic ping better since it's got a paid version, not sure how they monetized ping.fm .. either way it must not have been working well. - Personally I'll stick with Hootsuite for managing my social accounts.

I can see both existing ping.fm users and also seesmic users being unhappy about this.

I have played around with Hellotxt but haven't really spent too much time on it.

You could try something like Onlywire, the only down side of it is the limitations of the free account.

My best suggestion right now for you to try would be IFTTT.com .. you can activate your channels then search for 'recipes' which combine actions between your channels (social accounts) .. for example you can take an RSS feed and post it to a Facebook page or Twitter (or some other sites) .. or you can set a recipe to auto follow back on twitter .. or even reply to new followers with a thank you message.

There are a crazy amount of possibilities.

.. and it's actively being developed from what I've seen.

    • Thanks for your reply Adam.

I already have hootsuite which is great for posting to FB and Twitter but unfortunately it doesn't support distribution platforms like HelloTxt.
Have also tried HelloTXT but it seems to have major issues connecting to a number of sites like tumblr and Identica.
Will definitely have a look at IFTTT. com though.

      Thanks

Hmmm... I was using hellotxt until recently. It isn't as good as Ping.fm was. Unfortunately it looks as though it's down today

        How are you using Posterous?

I can't seem to get it to work with anything. It's not compatible with Xanga, Identi.ca, Tumblr, etc. (...and last I heard someone got their Blogger.Com account banned for using Posterous with it?!?)

I'm looking for something to replace Posterous as well....

dlvr.it is a good syndication tool that works well. and so is scoop.it - Both are being used by hundreds of Internet marketers. If you have seen my wso BookmarkLovers then you might also find that to be a good service :-)

i think i will build a bot to directly post on all the social site without the middle man, this way i have no worry about their changes.

I generally don't use Ping FM or any other software to ping my pages.I prefer Google indexing done automatically by the spiders.

Hmm, seems like ever since Ping.fm is no longer working, everyone is having the same problem. I think Andrew Mak have a fantastic idea. But for the time being, since I don't have much option, I am going to try dlvr.it a try. Hope it works as well as Ping.fm.

Onlywire is the best alternative for ping.fm, hellotxt
