Of course it works. People use search engines for everything. I think I have used Google 5 times today. Once to find how to make a garlic spread, once to figure out what can be causing my car not to start, I even googled how to crush garlic. I found what I was looking for. If you optimized your site for "how to crush garlic" and ranked #1-#5 then I probably visited your site. That is the purpose of SEO.

I never doubted that you can get some traffic from it, But I don't seo is enough.

It depends on what you are marketing. If you have recipes for lasagna on your site, seo might bring in traffic but not much money because the searcher is not looking to purchase or click anything besides recipes. If you are optimized for headphones the customer might find your site expecting to purchase or click to purchase something so it has more value.

That is why people spend so much time doing keyword research. You dont want to target something that is not going to bring in money.

You have to research your niches/keywords better before building websites.
Quantity does not mean more money, nor rankings mean more visits. Do your research, create websites around profitable niches and you won't need to create thousands of sites to earn some money.

I have done all this and have made some money. But to me it's not worth my time unless I can grow it into making thousands a month.

Then you haven't done a proper research.
I have websites with a single keyword bringing $100+/day. The money is out there, all you have to do is find your way. Probably the traffic is not your problem, but monetization of that traffic.
