How do I build backlinks (Newbie)

Hello!

I'm wondering what is the best way to start getting backlinks for newbies. I am already sending out the social signals like twitter, digg, facebook, google, linkedin, etc. but I would like to start getting real links.

I see people do blog commenting but I'm afraid if I comment on a autoapprove blog, 1 month from now, the comment section will be filled with spam and I will be penalized for that by google.

I also see people submitting articles to like a billion directory sites for backlinks. Would someone recommend doing this to me? All it is, is posting an article with a link back to your site right? Should or could I use Fiverr for this?

Another thing I see people doing is making some type of wheel with 2.0s where blogger links to tumblr linking to wordpress linking to blog linking to something else and then the last one links back to your site. Effective or not?

And what is the best method you can recommend to me without any software?

  • Have you used guest posting and article submission? Guest blogging is a great way to attract traffic and backlinks. You can also write press releases and submit them to news wire sites. Use classified ads to promote your site and get inbound links.

You should NOT do this. Google no longer credits websites with low quality links, and can even penalize your site for too many of them. The reason why article marketing works is because REAL Blogs actually syndicate the content on their own sites. So if you submit a high quality article on EZA about your niche, there's a decent chance another webmaster in your niche will decide to publish it on their site.

The backlinks from article directories are worth very little. But backlinks from niche blogs pointing to your site are worth a heck of a lot more.

I have 2 effective strategies for getting backlinks to my site.

    1. I purchase HIGH PR domains, and point them at my money site.

    - this strategy is crazy effective, but can cost you a pretty penny.

    2. I create a dozen decent quality backlinks (guest bloggings, web 2.0's with original content) and then I blast the heck out of them with backlinks.

    - The billions of directory links suck, but they do pass link juice. It would be a bad idea to point them directly at your money site, but pointing them at sites that link to you is a good idea. That way, you get the link juice and avoid the penalties....

    hope this helped!

I understand making web 2.0s, those are easy.

      Is this correct? (Web 2.0)

      1) Register to maybe 20 high domain rank 2.0s
      2) Post all my articles to those 2.0s (5 articles x 20 2.0s = 100 BL)
      3) Profit?

Do I need to add rel canonical to my anchor text because of duplicate content? Should I link a 2.0 to another 2.0 to another 2.0 then back to my site?

I'm doing social bookmarking and yahoo answers (no follow but nice diversity for link profile).

For forum posting what happens if you put a link in your siggy with anchor text? Isn't that bad because if you made 1,000 posts and you can't change the anchor because the sig applies to all posts, that means you would have 1,000 naked, exact, or LSI keywords!

I'm trying to stay away from blog commenting that is auto-approve and un-related to my sites. I do it manually.

I would never do that because

      A) It could be no-follow
      B) It could be a temporary link
      C) It might not even be an .edu backlink (scam)

      Yea

Just do everything legitimately. Do not send your blog to thousands of directories. Don't purchase backlinks unless it has a very reputable name. If your write original content and give useful information google will pick it up. Start posting on forums in your niche, write articles on sites like go articles and ezine articles, and do social bookmarking.

Don't try to make only dofollow links but make a mixer of dofollow and nofollow links. Avoid spammy blog comments. Build links in niche related sites.
