      yep, it's not like "if i post 4 articles a week in 6 months I'll have an authority site" - it's all to do with the content your posting, how you're interacting with your readers and others in your niche, social presence with top-notch ahead of the curve content is really what it's all about

    I have been on a challenge to do this myself. This is what i have been doing for the past 90 days. (just finished this challenge)

    1) Create the website with 20 pages before launch.
    2) Add 1 new page each day
    3) Do a link building campaign for the new page (daily)
    4) Each page is to have the following:
    - 550 words+
    - 1+ images
    - 1x video (youtube)
    - Optimized for 1 keyword per page
    - H1,H2,H3, Italic, Bold, Underlined, Image alt text <-- 1 of each for keyword

    5) Adsense on each page. Contextual Clickbank products.
    6) I am now going through my website adding Amazon products to every page.

    The main thing is the content you are putting up and making sure it is unique and well written.

    When writing you are not just targeting 1 type of person you are targeting 2. People and the Search Engines as they both read differently.

    You really become an authority when someone starts searching for you because of all the great content. Or perhaps you run a local business and you did a great job, so your client recommends you to their friends who search for you directly (your brand). This shows you have good authority in your niche.

    Sometimes it can include your name or even your telephone number, so you can become an authority in the offline world too, take alook at Tom Cruise for example, has he got authority in the acting niche? yes, does he build large adsense websites? no.
