Quick domain question

I found a keyword with over 2 million global searches and medium competition, and when the keyword is searched online a Craigslist ad comes first. I ended up searching and found that the domain for that keyword is free, would that be a wise idea for a domain name?

      I'm not sure what that means since I'm new to this stuff, but let's just say the keyword was "waffle", the domain would be waffle.com

        1. The keyword is too broad.
        2. It's a great domain name though and you should definitely get it anyway.
        3. The domain is already taken.
        4. Next time dont advertise assets like these in public.

    You are almost certainly looking at the wrong metrics.

    If you are using Google Adwords Keyword Tool and looking at the broad match results and Adwords Competition, then you are doing your keyword research incorrectly, which can often lead to great frustration and disappointment when you find out the keyword you are targeting gets virtually no traffic.

    Google Adwords Keyword Tool is a good starting point.

    However, you need to be looking at the "exact match" search volume.

    Also, depending on your keyword and your target audience, you should check the local monthly searches (LMS).

    Then check the search trends in Google Insights to ensure the search trend for the keyword is dropping right off.

    Once you've got that bit sorted, then you need to check the level of competition for that keyword.

    Probably the easiest (and cheapest) way of doing that is to download the free version of Traffic Travis and analyse the top 10 sites for the particular keyword.

    EMD always gives advantage in SEO. Before buying it you should do few more research on it. You can use traffic travis to see the competetion and SEMRush to research keyword.
