Hi all, I started my first website aimed at Adsense on the 1st of May this year and so farr each month I have tripled the previous months earning. This month we are only half way through and have already beat june 5 times over ( still only small amount Just over £5 this month so far) So I feel I am doing ok with adsense and I keep adding new content all the time and growing the site.

So now that I have the foundations for the Adsense site setup and only need to create new content and backlinks every now and again, I now want to move on to Amazon and have my own Amazon Affiliate site. Thanks to Namecheaps offer Today of domains for $0.94 I have picks a niche in amazon that I want to target and bought a domain. Here's where I need your help and advice, now the Idea behind the site will be to review the products with in the niche and also add other info related to the products ( which I believe is the normal thing to do) But when it comes down to keywords this is were I am struggling, What keyword words should I be targeting. Should it be things like Product review, best product name review ect!!
My only concern is when you search this keywords in google adwords, apart from the product name everthing else is getting really low searches ( I mean 10- 50 searches a month. Hope you guys can help and advice on what I can do for my first Amazon niche site.

Do you think that if you are earning 5 in Adsense you can do better in amazon? I don't think so. because for the the easy and the best online income is Adsense. you just have to drag a lot of targeted traffic and monetize your site. that's all. Give it a second try.

Hey Marketwarrior, I in no way shape or form am giving up on my Adsense site, I am constantly looking for ways to grow the site and will continue to do so for a long time to come. As I stated with my Adsense site I set myself targets each month and work towards them. In terms of starting a Amazon site I personally think it would be good for me to have several different sources of income rather than purely focusing on one, and seeing as I feel I have the time to commit to another site as well as improve on my Adsense site, I think it will be a good experience for me. Cheers for you comment anyhow and agree with the dragging in alot of targeted traffic for adsense to work ( currently getting about 750 uv's a day to my adsense site.)

Typically it has been my experience that Amazon works well for product review sites (or more product specific sites) rather than sites that are more general.

For example if your site targeted keywords like "Black Patio Chair" this may be a good site to monetize with Amazon.

However a site that targets something broader like "Outdoor Furniture" would probably do better with Adsense.

Of course you won't really know until you split test, but this has been my general experience.

Hey gyu man cheers for the comment, I hear what you are saying. My site would be lets keep outdoor furniture as the example, Garden tables which is the micro niche within that niche and would review some of the Garden Tables that Amazon offer, so I don't feel that it is to much of a broad subject but as you say a split test might be in order will have to wait and see.

It's best to pick a niche which isn't too broad (as Gyu) mentioned. Try to get things like "microwave reviews" or "best microwave" - I assume you know how to do keyword research and competition analysis from the way you were talking above.

You're spot on with your idea for reviews. Make sure that you research the products very well firstly so that you can offer really valuable information to your readers - this will help with Google too. Your main ("coffee maker reviews" for example) will receive the largest search volume, and more often than not the keyword for individual products ("product name / model review" for example) will get about 10-100 searches per month. This is absolutely fine - people searching for a specific product like that are usually fairly late in the buying process and so you can afford to target lower volume keyword because you should have a higher conversion rate anyway.

You seem to be on the right track - add content frequently and make sure it's of a very high quality. Also, be sure to build your website so that it actually offers something of value to your readers. Sure, the main goal of an Amazon affiliate website is to generate commissions - but you must remember that if your website merely pushes users to Amazon without providing quality and genuinely valuable content then sooner or later you will start to see negative effects either from Google or your users.

You'll need to do some backlinking too but that's a story for a different day.

Lastly, don't give up. It can take a few months before you even get a single sale with an Amazon affiliate site but keep at it and you'll get there!

I think it would be really good to have an exact domain name for a product such as a specific TV with accessories for it. Your commission would be good for a TV and you wouldn't have to sell very many to make good money. When people are searching to buy, they tend to type in a very specific topic rather than a general one. General topics such as TV's are for lookers. I would rather have a few visitors to my site who are looking for my TV because they are most likely to buy.

    Best of luck,
    Carole

Hey Carole I know how useful emd can be, but from reading around on these forum some people say that using Product name in your domain can cause some trademark issues, so think its safer not to run the risk. Cheers for your advice and best of luck to you in what ever you are doing

For Amazon, instead of thinking about keywords, choose by products. Ideal products are over $50, not too big or heavy to send, and products that aren't available at a local Walmart.

And instead of reviews, I recommend writing product reports, which summarise reviews and comments by real customers (both on and off Amazon). If any customers say the product has any negative points, find another product that doesn't have each one of the negatives points, and offer that as an alternative. You get commission whichever they buy, so you can afford to be honest . . . if a product sucks, say WHY it sucks, and offer at least one alternative which is better (and say why it is better). I've got commissions from pages about a product, where I say do NOT buy this product the pages is about, and I've had commissions both on that product (some people want it anyway, and will buy it once they feel they know enough about it) and the alternatives.

Hey Chris, I think you touch on a good point there. Having negative reviews mixed with good reviews surely gives the site a more real feel to it, and not a site thats just trying to push sales.
