Why not follow Google justified beginners guide for SEO, the practices under Google terms are reliable and all are under White Hat policies.

    Follow the Link:

SEOMOZ is great but I don't really recommend it for beginners, some information posted there can be misleading, the site clearly disassociate itself from the post you see there. They allow SEO, marketing experts to publish content on their blog.

I suggest you take everything you see on SEOMOZ with a pinch of salt, always re-verify their claims.

You are better off starting right here on WF, the strategies and info you will get are enormous.

The Beginner's Guide is what the OP was asking about, not the SEOmoz Blog.

The Beginner's Guide isn't bad. Certainly Penguin and Panda safe. Probably too safe. They tend to be a bit idealistic about SEO. Of course, most of their actual SEO clients are large multi-million dollar corporations. It is a lot easier for them to attract links and be 100% whitehat than it is for the local mom and pop shop down the street.

The Beginner's Guide and Google's Guide are not bad places to start for somebody brand new to SEO. They will give you a good overview of SEO and how search engines work.

Thanks for your reply johnben, great advice in fact.

I agree that here is the place to learn about IM and SEO and all sorts of things, you refresh the forum and there is about 10 replies to threads, and all replies are within seconds of each other.
