I LOVE Google updates!

Hey WF!

I normally outrank my competition quite easily but from time to time I see some sites out rank me. And when I check these sites out I can see that they have spammy backlinks and re-hashed/spun content. It feels great to know that the next Google update will tank these sites HARD.

So if you see crappy websites outranking you don't worry. Keep doing all the techniques you know work and wait for Google to clear out the garbage.

Note - after a major Google update I see 100s of forum posts moaning about sites being Sandboxed or de-indexed/lose its ranking. Think about it from Google's perspective. If people stopped using spammy/Blackhat method, Google wouldn't have to update!

It's easy to seduce Google if you follow the guidelines...

    It's not that easy, bro.

There are a lot of webmasters who utilize the same seo strategies as you are "preaching", but also they get tanked hard.

It seems that the best thing to do is not to SEO at all.

Just let people naturally link to your website, but yes - that's hard!

So sometimes your SEO efforts will reward you, sometimes they will f-u-c-k you up!

    That's how SEO life is.

I don't use any type of Link Wheel/Pyramid, spun content or Link Blasting and my sites are fine. And I don't buy that "let people naturally link to your website" argument either. That wouldn't work if you had an offline business. You still need to advertise. Why is it any different for online businesses?

Yea, you'd be surprised how "far" or "up" you can go nowadays with just original content... I've ranked a couple of KW on the 1st position with nothing but a well written post.

There's another way to look at the situation. The people ranking well with horrible backlinks are probably earning more than most everyone else struggling to rank with legitimate / "white hat" SEO.

And by the time Google catches on they're already multiple steps ahead with different sites. So I doubt they really care about any penalties.

Of course, if you target "long tail keywords" you will do fine with some great written content and a couple of social shares.
