Hi guys,

This is my first topic on this awesome forum (My english sucks)
First i need help, i want to create big portal with many articles and there will be a lot of categories. There will be categories like music, history, psychology ...
What its better for seo ? Im using wordpress
1) httx//www .domain.com/music/artist/article
2) httx//www .music.domain.com/artist/article
3) httx//www .music.domain.com
and link to -> httx//www .artist.domain.com/article...
I want to create like 50 categories..what do you think? Thanks for help !!)

    Best practice with large sites like these would be keep unrelated topics on separate subdomains. Follow the about.com model. Sites like hubpages and suite101 learned that the hard way after Panda.

    So, you'd have:

    music.domain.com
    history.domain.com
    psychology.domain.com

    For "artists", you would have:

    music.domain.com/artists/article

      I'm looking at Answer.Com and it looks like they have their different categories setup as:
      about.com/careers/
      about.com/sports/
      about.com/travel/

      I don't see any:
      careers.about.com
      sports.about.com or
      travel.about.com

      This would tend to tell me that they are NOT using subdomains, but are using subdirectories. Is that right?

      I'm trying to figure out whether or not to use subdomains or subdirectories for a particular niche that I would setup by geographic location

      either

      location1.niche.com
      location2.niche.com

      or

      niche.com/location1
      niche.com/location2

      Trying to optimize SEO.

    use music dot domain dot com / artist / article title is the best way to manage more categories.
