    Magazines.com is a great resource when you are looking for niche ideas. There are literally hundreds of magazines focused on buyer-hungry niches, which are large enough to dedicate an authority site to.

      Check out the non-fiction books section on Amazon, and sort by most popular. Try to categorize the top 100 books into what you would consider to be 5 separate niches. Then pick the niche that had the most books.

      Keep in mind that if you're monetizing with adsense you may want to stay away from tech related stuff if you have the option. Users are much more ad aware.

    Asking others is the wrong way to go about it. I might tell you "lab microsocopes" is a good niche. Problem is, I work in a lab and know lots about them. You do not.

    I make a killing as an Amazon affiliate in several niches that I am familiar with and knowledgeable in. You should do the same. Pick a niche that you know something about and can provide good content about.

      Plus no one is going to give you great niches that they have researched just for the privilege of getting more competition in the niche.

        ^^^^Exactly. You may get some general tips, but I doubt anyone is going to just throw out a bunch of killer suggestions. It is tough enough these days to get a site ranked and keep it there. Why invite more competition?

        Like wolfmmiii mentioned, the best way to build an authority site would be to expand on what you know and/or like, then take that idea and narrow it down if it is too general.

Choose a topic that you are passionate about and then try to create a website that answers people's questions related to that niche. Make sure you choose a niche that fills a gap in the market and has the potential to generate profit.

      Just build a website about something you love. Make sure it is profitable first. Using the Google Adwords keyword tool to check out CPC. Also if you will be reviewing products for the sake of affiliate marketing, make sure there are enough products to cover.

    What i did on one of my authority sites is i took a semi brandlike domain, for example: throat.com
    Then i made sections inside it like: throat problems (health issues), a review pag of differen throat products like medicine for sore throat etc, then i made a page where i post medical related news from different rss feeds from major health news sites, adding there an article per day WITH a link to the original article, imo this way google doesnt see it so much as copyed content because of the ignolledgement and the link of the real article.
    Ofcourse i tend to make sub-sections and other pages, just making it legit and big. I go for offpage seo AFTER google has indexed everything naturally.

    Got a pr3 now bu the way it is going i am expecing a pr4 by next update
