Keyword Question - Need Advice Please!

Hey guys,

I've been in the midst of writing a few articles and I think I may have screwed things up and need some advice.

I did a bunch of keyword research and found a really viable one that gets 6K exact results with a low number of competitors.

The issue is that the keyword is missing a certain word to make it make sense in an article lol.

For example: The keyword I found is something like, "Work Home".

But the keyword, "Work FROM Home" has around the same searches but significantly more competition. (example of course)

So my question is:

When I'm writing an article and want to introduce my keyword in the content... if I put the "from" in the keyword, will that result in lost rank and traffic from the people actually searching without the "from" word?

Hope this makes sense!

The whole keyword "work home" is more likely to be successful, but as you say, it doesn't really read well! So you need to ask yourself - is it worth jeopardising the quality of the article simply to use the most popular keyword?

p.s. I've had this problem before - I wonder if putting a puntuation mark between the two words affects it?? e.g: " Self Employed Work: Home Earning Opportunities".....?

That's not a bad idea at all!

Anyone else have any input? Would :'s or other characters affect the keywords?

Just take the two words and mix them up as you write the article... Use them with the "from" then without, throw in a LSI keyword,... Nowadays, KW density doesn't have to be that high anymore so you can get away with it.

Try putting in your article somewhere a reference to your office , kitchen table, laptop, etc. that this is your "work home". Would work in the flow of the article ok I think.

I wouldn't jeopardize the site quality for the keyword, play by Googles game and give them easy to read, quality content and it'll pay off

My opinion is if absence of conjunction word really ruin aestheticism of the keyword then you should go for the full meaningful keyword. Just use 1 exact match keyword in any part of the article. People will not look on it and if someone does he/she will think its just a mistake.

For search engines I do believe nowadays search engines are well smart to rank a page for relevant phrases even if the keyword is not in title, articles even not on the webpage. Lets say you have a website on Pyramids. Keyword is "Egyptian Pyramids". You would see your site is indexed for

    Egyptian Pyramids
    Pyramids of Egypt
    Egypt Pyramids
    Ancient Egyptian Pyramids etc....

This is why we think LSIs are important when building backlinks. Then if you want to rank the site for "Work Home" just build backlinks using this phrase "work home". Google will easily understand the site deserves rank for "Work home" and "Work Form Home". No worries...
