I saw this in some blog post....
"Anchor text: the text of the links that point back to your site should only be your primary keyword about 20-25% of the time, at most. Vary your anchor text using secondary and tertiary keywords in the same market (i.e. fly fishing tips, helpful fly fishing guide, stream fishing)"
Is it true? only 20%-25% all the rest needs to be general keywords?

I own over 100 sites and I manage hundreds of clients' sites, the anchor text variety was one of the "things" that Google went after with their latest update, so yes: it's very important from my own tests to use your main targeted keyword as the anchor text only about 15% of the time.

The over optimization penalty targeted a lot of sites and one thing that helped my clients sites recover was to implement a backlinking campaign involving 5,000 or so wiki submissions (using about 100 generic keywords, like "click here").

This way we mainly managed to lower the anchor text density.

      Hope this helps.

Yes that is a good rule of thumb after the penguin updates, I would be tempted to break it down even more than that though-

10% exact match anchor (blue widget deals)
10% phrase match anchor (cheap blue widget deals / blue widget deals online )

Then the rest made up of URL and generic 'click here' type anchors

Thank you guys. But what if I have 14 keywords that I’m trying to rank in first page?
I think I’m missing here something. I have a website with about 150 pages but i have only about 10 pages that i want to rank in first page. So i need to look it as every page or for the entire website. I d'ont know how to use all this strategies. Means, I have 10 pages every page im trying to rank for 2 different keywords like this:
    page 1- keyword1+keyword2
page 2 - keyword3+keyword4.....And going on like this with a few more pages.
So lets say I’m building 20 backlinks to my website each day. And i have total of 15 keywords....so for every keywords I’m creating one backlink each day(It's enough?) ...so....after all the backlinks for the main keywords i left with only 5 more backlinks for just general anchor text backlinks.
Less than 1 backlink per keyword (per day) it nothing! so if i want it to be only 20% i need to create 100 backlinks per days that's mean 3000 per month - too many backlinks!
Well like you see I’m confused! I really need your help. I try to post this question a few time before but didn’t get any replies.
    Thanks!
