For learning purposes i have started with mailchimp as it does not cost anything for up to 2,000. So i thought to myself why pay now when i don't need to

Db,
First, I have heard not so good things about mail chimp. They end up in the junk folders quite a bit for one and if I remember right, moving your list is no easy task when you want to switch.Aweber is offering a 30 day trial for $1. It sounds like you are on the right track with the free book and the prize. How are you driving traffic to the opt in page?

So far it is just through my website, my website is only just over 3 months old and this website is a massive learning curve for me as i have been testing new ways

You're going to have to get it out somehow, unless the website is drawing that much traffic. Possibly some ppc ads or pop ups or on your facebook or twitter sites.

I absolutely agree with this post. To get more traffic you can use social networking and bookmarking sites.

From what I read and heard, safe swaps is probably one of the best ways to build a list.

Not necessarily the best way, but definitely one of the fastest. But you need to have at least 300-500 subs to do this method, otherwise no one will want to do adswaps with you.

Buddy, you can use solo ads to drive traffic to your site and you can also use articles to drive traffic too. Try out ezinearticles.
