Hi Everyone,

I have a problem that I have just discovered and I was hoping if someone can help me with it.

I noticed in the morning that all our search rankings have dropped. I did a little research and found that its only our homepage which has been de-indexed in Google and other search engines.

The issue could be there because of a new website that we have created. A few months back, we created a subfolder for web users based in US and use IP geo-targetting to forward web users from US to the US specific subfolder. As soon as this went live, our ranking pages were replaced by the new subdomain.

We realised that the subdomain wasn't the best option and we created a new website with the content of the subdomain.

We also added a redirect from the subfolder to the new domain.

Today, I saw that our homepage has been deindexed and if I use the info:mydomain function, I see the new domain being shown.

This isn't an SEO issue because our backlinks are few and inbetween but I will remove any spammy links.

Could you please tell me if this is something that can be solved soon.

I look forward to hearing from you all.

Any message in GWT? You see the new domain when checking mydomain oldsite? Only the subdomain on old site redirects to the new one?

      No message in GWT.

I see the new domain when I check the old domain using info:mydomain.com

The subdomain is the only one which redirects but it could have been activated for the main site when we deactivated the subfolder.

This is exactly what happened to a new site of mine a month ago. The homepage simply disappeared. It did return after 2 weeks, but I made sure I continued adding good quality backlinks during the whole time.

If it's ranking dropped, that's a different case.
It hasn't been de-indexed. You can see the website now that I have removed the redirects through site:mydomain search.

I will see if the website recovers in rankings soon.

Our web developer messed up the homepage by redirecting the website to the new domain.

All what you are saying suggest to me that there's some kind of
301 redirection or noindex meta tag issue in your homepage.

It does seem to be a redirection issue.

Now the info:mydomain isn't showing any results.

While site:mydomain is showing my homepage.

I hope the website is reindexed soon.

If you can provide the domain link then you would have got more accurate answers.
