Backlinks from web 2.0 and other sites do not appear when checking backlinks with several tools

Hello,
Do you have any idea why backlinks from web 2.0 properties like blogger, tumblr or dofollow backlinks from sites similar to domaintools.com (but dofollow) do not show up when checking the link profile of my site with backlinkwatch.com or market samurai?
Some links are older than 6 months so they should appear.
Plus I can see newer links from directories or link exchanging.

Take care.

If they're not showing up the only thing I can thing of is they're not indexed.

I mean there is a chance your link checkers just aren't picking them up so you'll have to try a different tool.

Maybe try ahrefs or google webmaster tools.

If they don't show up in any of them then the only thing I can think of is the link just isn't indexed

I've also had this problem. The only answer I received was that some backlinks take a long long time to appear, and some dont appear at all.

Both of you are wrong. After indexing web 2.0 backlinks well enough still backlink checker tools would not show all of them. Usually backlink checker tools update their database once in a month. So if you search in these tools even after 6 months of link building you would not find all web 2.0 backlinks even after 6 months of link construction. The main reason is search engines are hiding web 2.0 backlinks hence link checkers are not able to show you those too. To solve this problem I personally developed a tool that check almost 50 major web 2.0 sites using some operators in google. Not 100% accurate and still takes some manual works but providing moderate results.

@OP use your brain. There are some operators that would help you to find web 2.0 backlinks to your competitors. Still you need some manual and tedious job to do. So I would recommend you to develop a bot and a step by step work process that would make sure you are not going to spend more than 2-3 hours to check major web 2.0 sites.

Backlink checking tools usually find only a small percentage of your actual links. They don't represent any real assessment of your actual links. Try generating a free backlink report of your site at MajesticSEO. That will be more accurate but still not 100%.

Google Webmaster Tools just recently released the ability to show a large portion of links that they've crawled and they give the date they were indexed as well.

While I'm sure Google is not going to show you every single link that you've created (doing so would make our jobs as SEO's WAY too easy!) you may be able to find a few web 2.0 links in there.

From looking over some of the links on my personal sites I've been surprised just how long it takes Google to index some of my links, though I can't think of any that have taken 6 months or longer.

In order to view the information in Google Webmaster Tools pull up your site and go to Traffic >Links to Your Site. Once there click on "More >>" beneath "Your most linked content". If you look along the top there is now a button for "Download latest links" that will give you a great history of your links.

    I hope this helps!

Perhaps those pages with your link in it are not indexed by Google yet?

I would suggest not to rely on those link checker tools. If you can see the link and if you are sure that Google indexed that link, then why do we need to make sure that Backlinkwatch or Market Samurai to index that link and have in their database? no point on it...

Are you actually active on those sites, or did you just create a profile and leave it? That would it explain why.

Most backlink checkers don't pick up all the backlinks you create, and usually take a long time to pop up when they do find them. The best thing you can do is create a notepad file, or text file and keep adding your backlinks as you make them (or have them created). This will allow easy access to them whenever you need them. This won't 100% keep ALL of your backlinks, as sometimes links are created without your knowledge, IE someone linking to a blog or article, or sharing on SM sites, but a couple Google Alerts can help you keep up with some of them. Most of the links that DO show up sooner then later in the checkers are usually authority links, links from YouTube, Popular Sites, high traffic blogs ETC.

Your web2.0 properties are probably so weak that they are not even indexed by Google, and even if they are, they are still too weak to pass any good link juice.

If you don't build any tiers or get any links to your web2.0s then they are more or less worthless.

Post penguin 2.1, I would stay away from these public Web 2.0 properties where anyone and their pets spam them with exact match anchor text.
