Update: http://www.warriorforum.com/adsense-...ml#post6734827

Hello,

My website has finally hit #1 spot in Google. I am getting now in average around 500 unique visitors per day.

The niche is mobile application development, and the monetization technique I use is one of Clickbank's affiliate products.

I've checked my Clickbank's reporting analytics, and during that time period, I've got around 1208 hops, and Google Analytics reports me that I've had 5432 visitors.

With that, the CTR of my affiliate links is around 22%. Is that good for affiliate marketing?

However, I've only made 2 sales in that time, making my conversion rate only 0.03%... I guess it's the landing page of the affiliate product that doesn't convert well.

One thing I noticed in Clickbank is that my initial sales count is 6 but I got $0 with them. Does that mean I'll get credited later? If I take those 6 initial sales count into consideration, it'll raise my conversion rate to 0.14%, which is still bad.

What should I do? Should I maybe include Google Adsense? I've checked spyfu.com and the CPC of my #1 keyword is $1. If I continue getting 500 visitors per day, and if my CTR is 5%, I'll be making around $25 per day with this website.

I'm scared though to add Adsense as Google will review my website, and they might demote it considering it's an affiliate website.

What are your thoughts?

Cliffs:
- Affiliate product, mobile application development niche
- 500 UV/day
- 5432 visitors, 1208 clickbank hops, 2 sales
- CTR = 22% (good?), Conversion = 0.03% (bad?)
- Keyword CPC = $1. Include Adsense? (Can Adsense CTR be 5%?)

It really depends on keyword for clickbank sales and your landing page. Does the keyword target a buyers market? For example Wireless speakers vs creative D100 reviews. The 2nd keyword is farther along the buying cycle. That person is much more likely to buy.

Your landing page could be bad as well or people just are not interested in that product. Did you check to see how well that product is selling for other people.

I would try out different methods for making money. Adsense is the easiest. That 1$ cpc is not what you would get. You might be getting 30-45 cents. On my sites I get 15-20% ctr, which is high but that is because of my niche. You can expect 5-10 depending on your placement and niche.

      At (500 uv x .08 ctr) x .35cents = 14$/day

$14/day, $100 per week, not bad. I'm going to try and include Adsense.

Alright, so I included AdSense on the main page with the big rectangle 336x280 ad.

I've made yesterday $2.27 with a CTR of 3.13% (I've only added AdSense yesterday, so this was probably only during the evening) and today I've made so far $3.81. Not bad.

I'm going to remove some of my affiliate links to try and increase my CTR. Let's see what happens

Don't forget to measure what earns more over a week - adsense or clickbank. You might find that one CB sale a week is more valuable then 10 days of adsense.

Well I have both on my site, so we'll see.

So far with Clickbank I've made $380 in 1 year. Since my keyword hit #1 these past 2-3 weeks, I've made around $120.

      120 / 21 = 5.74$ per day with affiliate.

I really think I can make more with AdSense, but we shall see.

If you can convert those clickbank clicks to AdSense clicks, or if you had your own product, you'll be making a fair bit more. However nice job on your achieving your goal.

That is awesome!! just think when you optimize it. you should be looking at 10 dollars a day.

I would do some testing over 5 days for each test. First test placements, then colors and other borders and things.

Thanks for updating us. It is refreshing to see someone take action and post their results on this forum. We dont have enough of that.

Would you mind sharing with us, how you got your website to number 1?

Alright so I made a total of $8 yesterday and my CTR was only 1.58% which is pretty low :S

I'll change the placement in 4 days for some testing, although I think I have the best placement -- 336x280 big rectangle, right on top of the content with float:right. I might just change the link color, and match it to the color of my links on the page. Right now, it's the standard blue color.

The real secret to making it to number 1 is consistency and patience. There is no secret shortcuts. What I did was:
    • Keyword research (really important as my keyword didn't have a lot of competition. Forget ranking a keyword for #1 if you have lots of PR5-6s and 1000s of backlinks on page 1, unless you want to spend 5years+ ranking it)
    • On-Page SEO (really important)
    • Good content (my home article is 1000+ words and I always try to add new articles and keep the website updated)
    • Consistent backlinking (I have been buying some fiverr gigs regularly every now and then -- I have also bought Matt Laclear's $100 package for guaranteed page 1 ranking, and they have been adding lots of consistent backlink juice)
    • Patience (I have started this website 1 year ago)
    Pretty much this.

Cool. Test & Measure. Because they depend on different factors, clicks vs sales, it's good to test which one is better for a website. If you can get $8 a day fom Adsense that's not bad. Not many earn more than that.

In my opinion you can do some A/B testing: Now that you have the rankings, you can try different products and different landing pages that are appropriate based on the keywords you rank for. That way you can compare those to see if those are good percentages or not and which one is better, and then keep that one.
Also if there are no other similar products in ClickBank you can check the other affiliate marketing websites and you may find other similar products.

Yeah I was thinking of building a list, but I'll just let the AdSense earnings come in instead for a while.

I do have legal pages on my website, such as the FTC disclosure and privacy policy.
