Hi friends,

I've tried to find out what competition column in keyword tool signify? In some articles they say, competition signifies the no. of webpages trying to compete for a keyword, while some say, competition is mainly related to adwords advertising, Can anyone tell me which one is right?
#competition #google #keyword #signify #tool

I have always understood it to be the number of advertisers (worldwide) that are bidding on that keyword - therefore relating to adwords advertising. It is NOT an indication of the competitiveness of the keyword itself among competing websites.

This. It's the number of advertisers on Google Adwords bidding for the keyword

Then, selecting high competition keywords will be helpful for my adsense site?

I think you should choose keywords with 'Low' to 'Medium' competition. If you select the ones with 'High' level of competition, be ready to face lots of competitors. It goes without saying that you need to have a good budget to promote your keywords.

Yes it can be in the sense that the payouts could be higher if advertisers are paying more for the keywords.

    It is adwords advertising competition.

The Competition column gives you a sense of how many advertisers are bidding for a particular keyword. This data can help you determine how competitive the ad placement is.

Seriously, I once thought that the values under the 'Competition' column represent the number of times that keyword was used on Google search. The two Warriors above me are correct.

It is related to the keyword's competition in Adwords advertising and not seo competition for the keyword.

high competition means that you're going to bidding high to get a good spot.
If you have deep pockets and are willing to outbid then yes it is better.
If you're trying to make a billion out of 15 cents (Pitbull reference) then that's not the way to do it.
Your strategy depends on your goal and your pockets!
