Ranking for the wrong Keyword

I have a wordpress site that I am ranking 364 in google for my title,

example: internetmarketing for beginners.com (not the real site)

but the main keyword is "internet marketing" and the site doesn't show up in google search for the main keyword. How do I change this as the main keyword
has many more searches than the main title does as a keyword.

Its easier to rank as the exact matching phrase especially when when its only ranked 364 it wont really matter that much for that ranking. Although to rank for internet marketing its extremely competitive, you can try internet marketing to rank for an exact keyword like that it would require some high PR links using the same matching phrase on the backlink.

Along with that make sure your content and title tag on the main page match that phrase, I wouldnt advise targeting that keyword though unless you have a lot of resources.

  Thanks for the information Nationsubmit. I will give it a try. Internet marketing isn't the real keyword I am trying to rank for, it is just an example.

  keep going after you're main keyword, honestly, and just build some backlinks for whatever 'new' phrase that has you ranking.
  
  It all starts with how you research appropriate words. If they are the right words, make sure your SEO is also in place with your images and videos, that way when you get crawled by the search engines, keywords aren't the only thing they see.
