SubDomain and/or WordPress sites

Hi guys:
Is there any problem with using a sub domain, such as:

I can't show a link on here so I'll have to use * instead of ..
sub*domain*domain*co*m or
domain*co*m/sub*domain or
both of the above with /filename/ added ???

I have a host that uses the first one which (with a short do*main name) my "dis*play URL" targeted and usually works in the 35 max limit in the line.

I have another host that dose things the second way but haven't used that yet.

I had some problems with the first one. They kept killing my ad and I would change the display URL and that would get killed and I would cloke it and that would get killed, finally I got the first one to stick, but I didn't do anything different from the first time I tried it.

Any comments or ideas?

Thanks

Warren.

technically a subdomain is treated as a seperate domain from the root domains..

    So :

    abc.domain.com
    def.domain.com
    ghi.domain.com

are all treated a seperate domains.

    domain.com/abc/
    domain.com/def/
    domain.com/ghi/

are all treated as the same domain

This might explain why this happens with you

Take care and I hope this helps

i agree.Logically, when a subdomain goes first, it is considered different sites with the same root domain. But when a root domain comes first and subdomain follows, it is considered those three pages belong to only one site that only shows sub pages of the site

Sorry, you're incorrect... Not from a search engine perspective.

They used to, but not any more. Been this way now for over 6 months!

G's bot crawls these root domains faster...

    domain.com/abc/
    domain.com/def/
    domain.com/ghi/

whilst below separate domains take longer

    abc.domain.com
    def.domain.com
    ghi.domain.com

      No it's not.

Haivng a subdomain and placing your keyword at the front of the TLD for the subdomain folder, has a higher prominence, having your keyword on the end reduces it.

      ie
      domain.com/keyword = kinda ok
      keyword.domain.com = better

The reason I ask is that rather than buying a specific targeted domain name (which may or may not be avalible) I can have a domain name and preceed it with that specific name for free and not have it look like it's a file in my root domain.
Which is good. I think. Right?

Sometime back google had made changes to the algorithm due to which subdomains are considered part of the same domain now and not separate sites.

This depends on the top level domain.

Some large authority domains such as Blogger, WordPress.com and some others do still get subdomains treated as separate domains. Top level domains without any authority get treated as all the same domain. It's unclear exactly where the tipping point is between the two but the bar seems to be set pretty high.

Basically the reason Google did this was to cut down on subdomain spamming using WPMU, YACG and other scripts.
