Do you put in ads when you build the site or after the site has aged a bit?

I used to do it when I built the site, but now I wait until I start seeing some traffic. Don't think it matters much either way

I put them in right away. Haven't seen it have a negative or positive effect in either direction.

On that note, though, you do need to be sure not to put too many ads above the fold, especially when you are dealing with getting a new site indexed. As long as you don't stuff your ads I don't see a reason why you wouldn't be able to put them in right after building the site.

As soon as the page has content, it's ready for Ads.

Don't wait on traffic, because no matter how much traffic you have, it will never be enough (you can never have too much traffic).

        umm.. pretty nice question dude...

I prefer putting adds after getting some age and traffic to my site. I'm doing that and i'm getting good CTR and conversions too.
Only thing that matters while putting ads is the placement. there are lot of places to show your ads in a webpage. But few like the Top right corner, below the post positions will give effective results for your effort.

Only after the website starts receiving great amount of organic traffic. Prior to that, putting ads on your website is a complete waste of your time and efforts.

Doesn't matter either way as long as you make sure to rel="nofollow" the ads you put in. Also I wouldn't go berserk with how many ads you put in. Better to have a few good ones then a page with more ads then content thats just annoying.

Why and how do you put rel="nofollow" in ads?

Place your ads when your site has some worth wait for the right time and be sure that traffic to your site is well enough.Otherwise you will be slapped by Google Adsense.

Are we talking about Adwords here or affiliate links? I can understand aadi144's advice for Adwords/ PPC, but with affiliate ads it doesn't make a difference.

Why would anyone wait to put ads on? You are just losing potential sales.

      I don't get it either.

Apparently they just like waiting, because it obviously serves no purpose.

It's like Starbucks waiting until they get busy with traffic/customers before they start serving customers (crazy stuff here).

Agreed, it makes no sense to wait and throw potential money/sales away.

Any change in content and link structure can impact rankings. That is why I do not understand why people do not put their ads in right away. Then you do not have to worry about a change in rankings later when you start changing the content by adding in ads.
