Does Penguin Run Continously?

Hello

If I created a fresh site and have blasted it with exact match links within the last few months --- would it go to the top or would penguin already have filtered it out?

I am asking -- does penguin run continuously or do they just run it during the updates?

I know so far we've just had 1.1.... but I"ve noticed if you 301 a site it will get hit .. sot hat makes me think there are tiny little updates or that it runs somewhat continuously..

Or perhaps they run 1.1 all the time?

Thoughts?

When the Penguin update ran it reset Google's algorithm to look for new items when it indexes your site. That's all it is is an update to their algorithm. So now those changes are integrated into their indexing process. So whenever they index your site and back links around the web this new indexing process will filter according to that update version. When the next Penguin update occurs it will implement those changes into it's algorithm which will add or decrease to any former aspects of the first Penguin update.

It's not a one time thing that showers the web one time when it occurs, it becomes an actual part of their new indexing process and so everytime you are indexed by the search spiders the new process is used in deciding your sites relevance and authority under the new system.

You have the answer above.Penguin is an algorithm update after which the bots have a different set of specs in which they see your site and it's links.

    Thank you, I appreciate it.

But I am not sure its true.
For example, I outsourced and had some sites rank. One is #1 for the term I want to rank for. If I look at its backlink profile, its far overoptimzied for a certain keyword...

So technically Penguin should filter it out but its not.

I think the world still doesn't truly understand penguin.

That depends on the level of competition keyword/ phrase. I could over optimize a page for "Dragons eat retbgdfkdgfgf in warm blankets" and I'll rank #1 as well. If you try it where it's a competitive market that won't work. Everything is relative to the level of competition. Google is far more competitive the harder the words are to rank.

Also your definition excessive backlinks for a particular keyword might not be even close to Google's in relation to the competion of that particular keyword.

I create exact match links that come from same sources this last few months and everything is alright with my site. I hope it will continue like that.

Goog is trying to make it a ongoing thing , just like Panda. Cutts already announced about the major changes which is going to be released soon.

That's like asking whether you have muscles only while you're at the gym, or at home as well

Of course it runs continously, it's a change in algorithm.
