Hello Warriors,

I've been working my way through PPC Classroom and I just cant get my head around how the google ad words tracking works. Its doing some thing but if I dont understand what its doing thats no good so I hope someone can shead some light on this.

For some reason PPC Classroom do not have a support email and will only help people with payment problems and you cant ask Anik and Amit any questions untill after 30 days.

Anyway I will copy and paste the email I submited before I found out I was not going to get any help below...

Hello Anik & Amit,

I have some questions I need help with so I understand.

I'm trying to track my sales and I pasted the code in to my thank you page. All I did was click into my main Campaign and clicked on tracking and got my html code and pasted it in my thank you page.

I don't understand how it tracks. It is tracking because I've got 2 sales for £69.95 and they both come from different keywords but I don't understand how Google knew were they come from.

I only have one thank you page and I have lots of different landing pages for my different keywords BUT all the landing pages have the same pay pal button on them so how does pay pal know were the sale came from if the pay pal button is the same on all the different landing pages and then from that pay pal button all the people from the different landing pages go to the same thank you page? How do they know? Maybe I've done it wrong and they don't know? But it says I have two sales from different keywords. I'm really confused.

Also can I bid on the keyword [paypal] ? I was thinking about it and was shocked to find no one was bidding on it. Then I thought that pay pal must have stopped people from bidding on it?

Hope you can help me understand how the tracking works.

Kind Regards

Lee McKenna

Hope some one can help.

Kind Regards

Lee, not sure if this is a solution but doesn't PPC Classroom have a forum. You should be posting your questions in the forum....I'm pretty sure they've got one.

    Good luck....

Hmm - if you got 2 sales already, then you're not doing too badly!! Echo the suggestion to check out the PPC forum, but don't let your need to understand get in the way of simply doing what needs to be done to be successful. Some of the most powerful people I know have NO CLUE how what they do works - they just know that it does, and they do it!

      Hi,

Yes they do have a forum BUT its not open yet. It opens in 30 days from after they went live. So I cant even ask the forum.

Im sure some PPC marters are hanging around here that could maybe help?

I just need to unders stand how the tracking works and if Im doing it right.

Say I get a sale and it does not come from google ad words that person will still land on the thank you page and if that happenes will that show up on the tracking? If it does will it just pick a keyword to tell me were it came from? When it did'nt really come from google ad words?

I have a diffrent landing page for every keyword and on that landing page Im taking payments with pay pal. Do I have to put a diffrent paypal button on every landing page and then get a different tracking code from google and make different thank you pages?

      I probably got this wrong?

Hope some one can make me understand.

      Thanks

    Hi Lee,

Sounds like your on the right track (no pun intended).

The AdWords conversion tracking works by fetching a cookie from the client computer that contains a tracking id placed on the client when they first clicked your ad.

The matching of keywords and ads are all handled by the AdWords system where this data is stored. There is no need to create unique buttons or thank you pages.

Since you are using Paypal as third party payment system, there is a chance that some conversions may not be tracked if your customer does not return to your site through the thank you page. Take care to set things up to insure your customers return to your site's thank you page.
