Adwords is where it's at, but SEO is even better. Why focus on PPC so much?

Depends whats it is your trying to accomplish. Adwords will always be the dominate leader in finding highly targeted leads over a broader range of keywords due to the massive amount of people using their search engine. But you have to ensure you stay within the TOS or you'll lose your account pretty quick, no questions asked.

Adcenter would be my next recommendation but if you want to start using PPC without any of those pesky pending times, then 7 Search would be my top recommendation. Their search volumes are nowhere near Adwords or Adcenter but they do convert and you can get penny clicks quite easily if you know how your doing.

Adwords hates affiliates, and it will be even harder if you are just starting out with affiliate marketing.

Some good paid traffic sources for affiliate marketing:

    TrafficVance
    LeadImpact
    7Search
    Bing & Yahoo AdCenter
    Facebook Ads
    Plenty of Fish
    AdMob
    Airpush
    Pulse360
    AdBlade
    MobFox
    AdBrite
    AdKnowledge
    Advertising.com

Start with Google AdWords and measure your conversion rate. Continually blog and bait high quality links. You do not want to forget about natural rankings and focus only on PPC. Why pass up the opportunity for free traffic?

What sort of products are you marketing?

If I had more information I could certainly do a little bit of research for you to determine which methods will see the highest conversion rate for you.

it's from our PPC Media Gateway. Here is given how we generate traffic and promote offers by PPC traffic through our custom/clone PPC Media Gateway.
As individual PPC network costs much higher, so that we do not use single PPC Ad network but we are promoting offers by PPC traffic which comes from a custom PPC media gateway and the PPC gateway is registered with as many as 30 PPC networks including all top ranked networks from where we buy traffic at bulk volume (to get lower price). As the media gateway registered with multiple Ad networks and traffic routing to the offer by seeking lower price traffic first so it is really hard to confirm that when from which network traffic comes from. We get bulk rate facility and our CPC is lower then other individuals by using intelligent traffic routing, dynamically switched between networks by seeking lower price etc.

There are many Ad templates for different niches those run to PPC networks randomly/rate priority basis means lower rate comes to top route. When we give them a new link's offer they just linked that with some Ad templates according to my demand (traffic volume) then those Ads rotate network to network and bring traffic targeting according to offers requirement like Age, Sex and other demographic issues and Keywords. The PPC Networks registered with the media gateway to promote offers are given bellow.

    Adbrite
    AdOnion
    AdOptim
    AdToll

Try Adcenter and 7search first. See if you can get conversions. Starting with Adwords (unless you get a $100 coupon) can get very expensive very fast. Also, as an aside, I used to bid very low on the content network ONLY. In certain niches, it worked REALLY well. Good luck, I hope that this will help you somewhat.

Thing with PPC is that you need to keep it targeted, no need for keyword lists of hundreds. I find small targeted keyword list in my PPC campaigns are best. Also, don't do just one or two campaigns. Set up 10+ with tracking to see how they convert and where your converting traffic is coming from.

Alot of people set up the ad, drop in their keywords and then sit back and expect to make money. Doesn't quite work that way. Run multiple campaigns at once, sometimes the most random unexpected campaigns are the ones that work the best.

Also set different types of links. Not all links need to go to a CPA offer for email or zip submit. You could write an article which needs to be unlocked be using an incentive offer, or create a page with valuable content with a free download and have an incentive offer in the auto responder when they sign up for the download. They need to complete it to get the free download.

There's so many ways to make money with CPA through PPC that just trying one specific method will end up with you leaving money on the table.

But the most important part is tracking your campaigns so you know whats converting and why.

And one more quick tip, use services like SEMRush to see what ads are being used by advertisers on Google, or if you don't want to use SEMRush, Googles Ad Preview and Diagnosis will also give you preview of ads running on their network. The ggod thing I like about SEMRush though, is there paid membership gives you a breakdown on which ads are running the longest for different keywords. This gives you an idea of what ads are converting the best.

I find small descriptive ads works best. Things like:

Title: Huge discounts on your Favorite Restaurants
    Description: Free downloadable/Printable Coupons
    Url: blahblah.com

I think a better way to phrase it is that Google Adwords will NOT allow you to use a website that has ANY affiliate links on. They will either refuse to allow you to get set up or if you do manage to get set up they will stop the service and ban your account.
