One of my competitor obviously has less content, newer domain and less number of backlinks( backlink watch shows no backlinks). But still it seems too hard to beat them. What is this?
#google #top

I can't observe something extra ordinary in terms of on page. As far as off page is concerned, no backlinks at all. Is it possible that they have used some blackhat techniques. Something like linking to someother link and redirecting to this one? Is something like this possible?

Anything is possible, that's what makes the internet such a fun place.

I am willing to bet it is nothing special though, just for fun- check the age and the PR of the domain as well.

Are you sure? Not all backlinks checker do the works accurately.

It's possible, and it's possible as well to see that they will not last long with their blackhat techniques.

In backlinking, quantity does not matter - quality matters.

Of course, the more quality backlinks you get the better, but quality is the first thing you should look for.

Therefore, your competitor might be beating you in the SERPs because he/she has been able to obtain a bunch of really high-quality, high-PR backlinks.

These backlink-measuring tools like BlueBacklinks or BacklinkWatch might not have crawled all of the backlinks and therefore what they show you might not be the truth.

The best of these tools, at least in my opinion, is Ahrefs.com.

How can we differentiate quality backlinks with others?
If you could give me some hint about how to find some, that would really be awesome!

First thing they must have done a very strong onpage optimization. Secondly, they must be having relevant, high quality and do follow links.

I think they have high quality back links than what you have.
Sometimes having great content is enough to rank well without any backlinks too.

As many people have pointed out on here its all about quality and not quantity, I have clients who rank #1 for search terms that are very competitive average around 9k exact monthly searches and they only have 50 backlinks compared to others 3000 backlinks.

You can check their backlinks authority using sites like opensiteexplorer.org etc, as many have mentioned above strong backlinks makes the magic.

Depends on keywords that you select.

You can rank a keyword at Google without backlinks. Or you need a lot of backlinks to rank. Again depends on the keywords.

Don't see just an quantity because quality is much matter than quantity. I surely says that, they must have high quality & strong backlinks and from that its on Top.

There are several reasons why things like this happen.

    1. No tool is 100% accurate.

    2. Not all back links are revealed.

    3. The links are probably of high quality or the webmaster is highly professional. Which means your links are no match for it.

May be quality is his strength. try to calculate his quality in all elements like on-page factors, content, back links, social media and everything that you find at him. Try to beat him through this angle. He won't be anymore above you.

It's not about backlinks - true, but still backlinks seems to have a big weight on your SERP.
Check again, with another service, and always keep in mind it could be any other factor, like domain age for example.
