Just wondering how many of you warriors use VAs? I've always put off using them because I feel like I start to lose control of my sites but it's got to a stage where it's getting harder to service all my websites, and will be even worse when uni starts again.

For those that do use them, what tasks do you delegate to them?

VA's can be a bane or a boon depending on the VA you get and how you train them. If you are expecting that the VA will reduce the burden off your shoulder by doing the grunt work, you are mistaken.

Be prepared to put in the effort to train them well. Be prepared to fire ones that do not seem to be motivated and skills to learn what you are teaching them.

Only once you have found a talented VA and trained them well to handle the tasks you want them to do, can you afford to take a back seat and relax where as your VA does the grunt work for you.

My lesson learned. You need to hire and train them six month before you need them. If only I did it, I'd be miles ahead now.

I don't think so, due to globalization, you can find professional and skillful VAs all around the world. I had noticed there are projects calling for 'VA' in some freelancer sites and there are many people get success with it even. Even me too working as a VA for few clients in USA for their specific promotions and website maintenance. Of course, there were bunch of questions during interviews and my answers were satisfied to them and sample/trail assignments too were successful, so I got a chance to work as VA

      • There are many skilled VAs who can handle search engine optimization, website maintenance, social media marketing and other time consuming skills. You can can find a good VA from the first try or you may need to train one so that she can handle your project successfully. Working with a VA will save you time and money.

It all depends on various factors:
    1) Language compatibility
    2) How you train them
    3) Interest of VA to learn new skill set
    4) Sometimes VA pre-assume things that should not happen
    5) Keep them friendly. So they wont hesitate to ask things which they don't know.

I'm primarily using one for content and it's working out pretty great. As others have said be prepared to look through a lot before finding the right one though. I simple post looking for a VA and I received tons of emails regarding it.
