Web 2.0 and Sub-Domains

I am new to this stuff, so what I'm asking may not even make sense...but we'll find out!

I've been researching Tiered Linking and for Tier 1, it's recommended to use Web 2.0 sites; which can include Wordpress. So, this means that it can my own Wordpress sites pointing to my main site...correct? Can these Web 2.0 be sub-domains?

For example:
I have:
mainsite.com

Then tier 1 I have:
sub1.mainsite.com
sub2.mainsite.com
sub3.mainsite.com
etc.

Then tier 2 links to my sub domains? etc, etc, etc

Can it work like this? Or do I need "true" (might not be the correct terminology) domains?

Dont give google a chance to slap you hard. Creating subdomain wordpress sites on your mainsite and pointing it to your moneysite would only lead to penalties as it will leave massive footprint.

You should do more reading and research in this area to understand better.

    Here are a few pointers.
    • Forget about subdomains for linking. If you have subdomains for another reason, you can do natural internal linking but those aren't considered backlinks from outside sources.
    • When people talk about 2.0 properties, they are typically referring to sites like wordpress.com, blogger, etc. that offer free sites. They are typically not referring to standalone wordpress sites on separate domains.
    • You can have wordpress sites pointing to other wordpress sites. If they are standalone sites and you are the same owner and they are the same topic, they should not be from the same host (unless you are using Class C hosting, but don't worry about that topic for now).
    • Start a site, get links to them from various sources. Focus on good content and quality links.

Yes.... I believe you could do that but you need to have the websites (domains & sub-domains) hosted on different IP classes...

But I welcome that move, let me know out it works for you.........

I want to give this a go soon too...

I think I should ad this, yes web 2.0 are sub-domains and I have great result with these moving my website up it serps.

I think web 2.0 might be less risky and a better option than you create a sub domain from you money website.

      Hello SickNickel,

Web 2.0's are normally large blogging platforms. They would not be a sub domain of your site. Instead, you would sign up for a wordpress.com account and create a new wordpress blog on their site. When you read wordpress they do not mean the wordpress installation on your own site, but rather wordpress.com.

Once you have your tier 1 setup, you point tier 2 at them. Tier 3 points to tier 2, and so on. Their is only a small amount of benefit going deeper than 3 tiers. Once you have your tiers setup, hit them with your secondary links. These are your bookmarks, directories, guestbooks, forums, etc.

      Tier1 <---Tier2<---Tier3

bookmarks, directories, guestbooks, forums, blog comments, etc

Subdomains will get you penalized. Been there. My sites dropped in PR horribly. Well, lesson learned.
