[Must Read] Google Has Lost The Plot LOL

So the story goes like this...

I had an adwords account that I used every now and then for testing purposes that was sitting stagnant as I prefer paying for ads on facebook these days.

Google decided to send me a $100 voucher to use specifically on that account, and that account only.

So I decided to cash it in and start spending their hard earned

Before I even had a chance to start a campaign, I received an email saying that my account had long been suspended... so why send me $100 to use on a suspended account LOL

Ludicrous marketing practices dare I say!

Not like they are going to vefify your account status before sending out a promotional offer to the masses based on factors, lol.. Same way I don't target certain car service customers for new tires. They might have an unpaid bill but my e-mail campaign is going out to everyone and anyone. Same with credit, after an e-mail campaign come customers will reply "You couldn't get me approve!", I don't have time to check everyone's credit score.. A mass e-mail promotion is much quicker.

Well if you have any hosting account with hostmonster, bluehost, hostgator or those cpanels...you can always get a new voucher in there for $100 just make a new gmail account that should work.

    Hope that helps.

Yep they send me vouchers and I haven't even got an account with them anymore.

They banned my account last year for no reason given, I hadn't even run any ads for years, yet they still shut my account.

I had a similar experience. I had a Google representative call me up, send me a voucher and then speak to me about 3 times a week about Adwords and using it.

I eventually decided to give it a go, logged in to my account (which I have had for about 10 years and dabbled in Adsense about 5 years ago). I applied the voucher and started to think about a product promotion.

Next thing I know I get an email from them telling me my account has been suspended - I've not even started to use the vouchers or any advertising!

After some very frustrating phone calls I find out it is because of an ad campaign that I created 5 years ago, never ran and is paused.

Fair enough I say, I'll delete it. Nope, not good enough, apparently the site it was pointing to is still in existance (a sales letter) and until the site is changed they will not re-instate my account. Oddly enough I don't own said site and never have, so how can I change the site to meet their quality guidelines.

Google doesn't care, the site isn't "quality" enough and because I pointed an advert at it 5 years ago and never ran it my account is suspended.

Guess who won't ever be using Google Adwords!

This is basically exactly what happened to my Adwords account. It is crazy to suspend an account for pointing an ad at a website they don't like. Even crazier to tell you to change things on the website when it doesn't even belong to you.

On the one hand you can say this is sheer idiocy. Which it is. But, I also think it is a strategy to identify and weed out affiliate marketers.

      .

could be but just hurts their reputation and bottom line in the end... and in any case what makes affiliate marketers so bad? because they are proactive in providing solutions to problems that others have created a product or service around?

i promote products such as rosacea creams, omega 3 supplements, acne treatments, detox products, etc... all valid products that people buy through my site because i have taken time to present relevant goods that work to my traffic base that is looking for just that... if I place an ad in a magazine, they certainly won't say NO because I am an affiliate lol

Many arms of Google have no idea what is going on elsewhere in G but obviously that even applies within the same department!

That's interesting. Most of the Google stuff doesn't work nearly as well as gmail and the search. I've had problem after problem with analytics, adsense, and Feedburner. For the feedburner one there is practically zero support.

A lot of their stuff seems to be getting too intricate to work.

That 100 bucks was a subliminal message to get you to pay them.

not a conspiracy just a sign of a growing company tha tis loosing control.

I was director of IT for a company and we did a lot of business with HP at one point in time. Then they went thru a growth spurt and trying to get support, service and parts became insane One group would recommend part replacements that you had to get from another business unit that said the parts were discontinued.

It got worse and worse. Then they bought Compaq and I said are they crazy? they can't control what they have now.

And I have not purchased another HP server since.

And Dell kicked their but...but they lost their Mojo as they grew...and now Cisco took 20% of the blade server market in less then 2 years...

    And so it goes.
