Hello everyone, I run Mystery Box Shop : Buy Mystery Boxes Filled With Random Items! and am trying to rank on Google for the term "mystery box". Can you please look at my site and give me some insite on what to do next? The site is only about 5 months old and im on the 5th-6th page for "mystery box"

I obviously would like to get to the 1st page.... Thanks

    Hey.. I had a quick look. My suggestions are:
    Build backlinks pointing to your site
    Add more content
    Add a Favicon
    Set name for all images
    Promote on Social Media

    The first thing that I see is that the phrase 'mystery box' is on the homepage a LOT - probably too much in my opinion. I've seen where this doesn't matter and I've seen where it can hold you back. It seems like it depends on the niche.

    I personally would reduce that by quite a bit.

    But, at the end of the day it's going to come down to links. I use a lot of guest posts and since panda and penguin, I've been using more 'click here', 'here', 'url here' and 'brand here' anchors to go along with my keyword anchors. It's been working great, much better than it did before penguin.

    I would start onpage. As mentioned above, your keyword is used too much. Not only that, but it appears 3 times in just your title tag. It should only be there once. Also the title tag is too long.

    While dumping keywords out of your body, I would probably add it to the alt text in an image somewhere. Maybe even the header image.

    You have the canonical tag twice on the homepage. Only needed once.

    You have 2 H1 tags on the homepage. I would only use 1.

    That's where I would start before I even began to worry about backlinks.

    That's just the homepage. I'm sure other pages have similar issues.

    Along with what Mike said, there's no reason you can't own all 5 images on the 1st SERP page. Image thumbnails in Google organic text SERPs are one of the easiest things to rank.

    That's 5 possible links on the 1st SERP page, while you work on ranking the actual page/s.

    When ranking image thumbnails in Google text search, you want as many unique images that you can get related to the target keyword, in this case:
    • mystery
    • box
    • surprise
    • etc...

    OP, I see your running Adwords, is that #1 paid position getting any traffic hits?
