Greetings,

I'm working on a new site which specializes in gourmet foods. The name of the company is City Valley Fine Foods ("city" is a place holder for the real city name, not posting for obvious reasons).

I think cityvalleyfinefoods.com is too long. Any suggestions for a shorter name? Does domain length make a difference in regards to SEO?

I appreciate any suggestions you may have. Thank you...

why not remove the city? is just stick Valley?
or the other way around - You could also come up with a brand to go along with fine food and not limit yourself to just 1 area. The domain importance in terms of SEO isbecoming less of an issue. That is unless you have a brilliant exact match domain with 1000s of searches a month then its worth it!

you could also mix the order of your text:
    finevalleyfoods.com for example
    Signature

If you building a brand then the exact name of the brand should be your domain name. In this case it does seem rather long and may even be viewed as spammy looking but I think this one of those instances where the brand name should take precedence.

If the exact company name is in the domain it will help you to rank for the name, but a longer domain does not negatively affect rankings. Your on-page and off-page SEO is more important with regard to ranking.
