Question on SEO for subdomains
I know the power of having a END(exact name domain) has demised in the last few years but it still has some value as far as SEO

I am wondering about ranking a subdomain Example lets say for example Affordable roofing is the domain

How much harder would be to rank say subdomains in a med to low competition for ranking for subdomains
Dever.affordableroffing.com
Oakpark.affordableroofing.com
Riversideaffordableroofing.com

Any anyone done any ranking or tried to do anything similar to this

Thanks!

I have successfully ranked pages with domain names that included the key word so it can be done.

I think it has more to do with content and a site that is aged and is for real people and looks and acts that way.

I also think that is why my sites have not lost rank even through all the Google changes.

Subdomains are treated as internal links.

Official Google Webmaster Central Blog: Reorganizing internal vs. external backlinks

a quote from the article above:

Most people think of example.com and www.example.com as the same site these days, so we’re changing it such that now, if you add either example.com or www.example.com as a site, links from both the www and non-www versions of the domain will be categorized as internal links. We’ve also extended this idea to include other subdomains, since many people who own a domain also own its subdomains—so links from cats.example.com or pets.example.com will also be categorized as internal links for www.example.com.

I find ranking the sub domains for my service pages easier as they are the less competitive.

Bro nothing is wrong with subdomains... They (mine) rank pretty fast and they are treated as a separate website in the eyes of Google...

I have eight of them all on page 1 and 2 (these are new with just one type of backlinks)...

There is no limit to the competition that a sub-domain can excel to.

I have a subdomain right now that is in the #6 position with 500,000 completing websites..

    Bonus...
Try to use brand name for the domain and then your EMD which with automatically be even more powerful than domains.

Think about. Brand and EMD in one....

The only concern I have is; if I can sell my sub-domains in package in flippa for a nice price...

That's probably some of the best free advice I've seen in good while.

Going to test this one out now actually

We also have several sites which rank high and we use the subdomain naming strategy. So, my vote is with sub domain creation and create proper relevant site and content.

Thanks to everyone Responding and giving your experanince

I wanted to offer a directly to some clients in a niche I am doing well in and can get a good domain and use the city name for the sub-directory as I only have 6-7 in each city but in several small towns and or cites

if I can just to the front page its a bonus for the clients and can then monetize its further depending on several factors

I think I will move in this direction thanks!
