Do not embed the Alexa widget

If you do some searching around for tips to improve your Alexa Rankings, you'll find a few sites recommending you to embed the Alexa widget in your code.

Well, my Alexa Ranking had been dropping a consistant 3k Per Day for 2 months and when I embedded the widget it stopped dropping completely. I thought at first that Alexa was updating their servers or something, but I removed it after a few days. And now, nearly 2 months later my Alexa ranking is the exact same. Even though I have added 50+ new original articles and been featured on some high pr websites.

So, in my opinion it would be best to let Alexa "estimate" your traffic instead of giving them full access to your stats because it seems to me they tend to overestimate.

    Or just ignore a metric that means little to nothing outside of inflating/deflating your ego. :rolleyes:

      Personally, I agree with you and in fact have just ignored the ranking all together for years. The big however is if you are trying to sell advertising space on your site some places use this ranking. So the idea of just ignoring may not be in every person's interest

        You right, specially in BSA .. advertiser looks three things.. Alexa Ranking, Monthly Impression and Page Rank...

    Also, Alexa seems to quickly update the links for those subscribing to their services. I dont find the stats to be accurate as well.
